So from what I gathered from some birdies, the London Emporium will be torn down and re-built to be larger.

Anyone else hear anything about this? Or what do you think about this?

By the way, a Merchandise Survey was being done at the front of the park just the other day.

Could this be announced on pass day, or will it just happen and they wont tell anyone.

It may be announced as part of an England make over like Oktoberfest ;) Think about it, new major store, new show, they might as well revamp their most visited country.

I think the park is just going through a growing phase where they want to update the park to make things new and fresh while still keeping to their general look. This England renovation will tell how the park where the park is moving.

RE: Emporium Renovation

I'd like to see England strengthened as a welcome center to the entire park, but only by punching up what is already strong about the area, and possibly adding better eating/shopping options and a new Globe attraction.

Unfortunately, if an England retheme were patterned to match the Oktoberfest expansion, we'd likely have to say good-bye to jolly old England, and welcome something that vaguely resembled a set from the opening dance sequence of an Austin Powers movie.

My fear is that we'd go from this:

Banbury Cross, or England as it is now known, was never designed for the amount of traffic that is seen through the front gate. At one time, when I worked there years ago, the Entry to the Park was eventually going to be in Italy, but of course, that never came to be. What England needs is a refreshing to make the entry area more easy to navigate, especially during the peak periods. At one time the ticket booths were where the entry turnstiles are now and the entry turnstiles were in that breezeway between the entry fountain and the main England area. SeaWorld Orlando did a great job of improving it's entryway...it is time for BGW to really improve, but keep the character, of it's entrance.

Park designer Randall Duell was a genius, and BGW is arguably some of his best (if not his very best) work; the thought of them screwing around with the park's first-impression hamlet saddens me.

Yeah, it really doesn't need to be changed. Just add a new show and I would be satified. (Preferably a live show)
