[split] France Renovations

I don't know which forum this would best fall under as there's no "Pissed off about the god-awful renovations forum". But wow I just saw the new park entrance where they removed the flags and scrolls and this is clearly a sign that the park is moving in absolutely the wrong direction. I am deeply saddened to see such a change and I think this is the beginning of the end. It's all downhill from here. Goodbye old world charm and hello generic crap-tacular tourist attractions.

Again, to reiterate: I am sorely disheartened by this. If this truly is a trend then I won't be going back to BGW because quite frankly it won't *be* BGW.

Merboy, I went ahead and merged your thread with the England renovations thread. The toll booths don't really qualify as Banbury Cross but this is here the discussion has been happening.

Yes. Majority don't like the park entrance. I understand most of the comments. Agree with a few. I like the new sign. However, miss the flags. :(

The GP complaining about the park moving away from the "the olde country" feel? And people say we're some ridiculous fringe group...

Also, here are the full quality versions of the pictures they posted.

You are, just because you don't post here (and I can't blame them) doesn't mean you're not part of that group. I have a chart if you're interested.

Merboy, there comes a time for all things to end. I myself saw the writing on the wall with Verbolten. I should have seen it coming before that (DarKastle). Some would say there were warning signs long before even that. I tried to complain, to fight it, to resist, but in any case, when we examine the evidence -- Elmo in the Castle; Europe in the Air; Sundial; GLOW -- I think it is time to face the facts:

The Old Country is the New Country now, and there is no turning back.

We are left with little choice but to try and embrace the park as it is, and as it will continue to become, or to simply direct our attentions elsewhere. For me, Busch Gardens still represents the best theme park option in the vicinity. I'm even optimistic that the new Busch Gardens will be loveable on its own merits. But the Busch Gardens I fell in love with and loved to escape to no longer exists. And that is what it is.

I totally read this while imagining the string quartet from Titanic.

That is the saddest thing I've ever read.
