Thanks for sharing Nora!

I split the record breaking discussion off into a new thread that can be found on the Everything Else board.

All I can say is that the landscaping and the Drachen Fire itself was beautiful; despite the faults. I wish it could have been saved because it was breathtakingly gorgeous.

You did walk under one of the inversions when entering.

I loved the super fast lift hill too. Ah~ I think I was one of the few people that still love ol' Drachen. I was there the day it opened and have a photo of me with the Dragon. FYI: A wonderful person sent me some photos of promotional items given out for Drachen (posted here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.170861559734031.1073741829.149401725213348&type=3 and I also have some photos of the ride here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.162207233932797.37833.149401725213348&type=3

There is a photo that was sent to me that shows the track going over the walkway. :)
Thanks Nora! I like the picture of the guy walking the track of Drachen Fire. That is one unique thing about arrow loopers. There is a walkway built into the track, so it makes it very easy to inspect. You can walk/climb the whole track of LNM. Try and notice it the next time you ride. And on parts where the coaster declines or inclines there is a ladder so you can climb it.

Shrubbery is always GOOD. You are not alone in your love for the dragon. I miss it.

Some like it rough.
P.S. I am wearing my ANIMAL t-shirt.

LUCKY! I never had a photo of me riding Drachen. I loved how the entire trains had lights that lit up at night along the side of the cars so you could see the ride running in the distance.

DrachenFire really was gorgeous. I love the aerial shots of this thing with the trees and blue skies in the background. It really is a shame...

Totally agree it was a beautiful coaster. I think Busch could have done more to save it, and removing inversions wasn't the answer. Premier Rides would have been a great candidate to save Drachen.

At the time of DF's closing Premier Rides was fairly new and really wasn't receiving a lot of fanfare like B&M was. And at that time some of their rides started to get notorious for being rough (Outer Limits being one of them) and all their multi inversion coasters had OTSRs on them. They wouldn't have even been considered to modify DF.

Premier actually was considered - and chosen - for some work on Drachen Fire. Unfortunately, it was not a happy project like construction or modification... :(

I found a picture of myself sitting in what appears to be a test car for Drachen Fire. Similar to the test seats for Verbolten Mach Tower, Apollo's Chariot, etc. however it was an entire car.

I find it odd, I can't recall having any memory of the coaster in person, but I saw this picture and apparently I had an encounter with it.

Alright, I'm having a total brain fart here, but can someone please quickly summarize the REAL reason Drachen Fire was closed & dismantled?

Lawsuit? Bad Karma? Satan? What?

Just to let everyone know, I've updated Chris's Drachen Fire history post on the main site so that it actually, well, works. If you didn't see it back in the day, I highly recommend you check it out. Link

That car used to sit out front by the Drachen Fire marquee, a few steps away from the Festhaus. I have a few photos of it sitting in that location, as in those days I took the opportunity to crawl all over it and educate myself a bit about Arrow rolling stock. Unfortunately, it was too low to the ground to look underneath...

I've sat under Great American's brake run long enough to get very acquainted with Arrow's wheel assembly. I'm impressed at how such an old system could handle the jukes and forces so well, especially on coasters like Nessie and Corkscrew @ Cedar Point. If you've seen pictures of the Arrow trains going through a Corkscrew you probably have seen just how much the wheels travel:

Now imagine going through DF's second half with that kind of travel. It's going to suck.
