Perhaps Der Wirbelwind was taken apart for maintenance/get it out of the way?

I'd love this. Back in the day when it was there, it was such a welcoming sight (especially at night) watching it spin while walking across the bridge from San Marco.
It looks very similar to it's condition during the Pantheon preview tour when it was undergoing winter mainence till something else comes up I wouldn't read to much into that picture.
Also unless something has changed my understanding is the whole Octoberfest area is fairly tightly restricted right now meaning there is a very small pool of people that could have taken these pictures I would generally advice those people to be careful on sharing them.

Pretty sure the park does a full tear down of Der Wirbelwind every few years for extended maintenance and then rebuilds it before the start of the season. KD does the same thing with their Waveswinger - if you look at drone footage of the park during the off season every few years, you’ll see the ride completely missing.
Just to remind everyone, we knew Wirbelwind was likely to be getting a big referb this off-season. It's addressed on the previous page in this thread.
It actually is, I believe. That's the inside. On the outside facing the guests, there are the decorative panels that mount to the green frame, sorta like a carousel. The tarp is the roof.
Heres Der Wirbelwind in its original position in Oktoberfest where the Catapult and Mäch Tower also once sat. This photo shows the ride with it’s original central control booth still in operation.

EDIT: for context they aren’t removing the ride. They do this every year for seasonal maintenance. It’s normal

It's cool to see how different rides look when they are dismantled for maintenance.
They’re actually going to lower capacity and just chain one seat onto that and knock you around like a tetherball.
No, that would require more staffing.
We just gate that hoe up as is, plop a credit card reader down with some shitty ride instructions, charge $20 a pop (3-9% However BGW feels that day surcharge not included), and let her rip Thomas style. 1 at a time.
It was funny to overhear conversations of many guests on Sunday who believe that BG is removing the swings. Several were confident in their knowledge that the swings are gone and another ride is coming.
