RE: Dead Line (2011 to Present)

People always think about how great the set is for Deadline, and it is worthy of the applause, but we rarely think of how well the existing building lends itself to the scenic. For instance, the subway terminal is mostly the bare bones of the building with a few gates, barrels, and vending machines. When you think of it, most of BGW's most popular mazes rely heavily on the pre-existing buildings.

Here's a taste of what the building actually looks like inside.

Man it looks like you better be wearing a respirator inside that building.

Italian newsman on the TV: Remember, you must put on your hazmat suit. Don't be scared.
(The hazmat suit box is empty and filled with cobwebs.)

Seriously though, the building is a little bit eerie. It's interesting though, because you can hear the water flowing through the pipes, and occasionally music and other special effects. It's no wonder they put a haunted house down there.

RE: Dead Line (2011 to Present)

Here is a transcript and translation of the Italian newscast in the queue for Deadline.
Also, below I have attached the actual audio for each television screen.

Welcome to the Metro of Rome. This is Antonio Stefano speaking. I am happy to be here with you to show us our project. We are starting our excavations for the expansion of the new tunnel. We have attested many years before starting this project for our Metro in Rome. What a show of progress made in the expansion of the subway. You will notice at the beginning of the excavations that big sections of all will be new city. In any case, there will be no alarm because...

This is something i can personally say i didn't think about. And looking at the picture i can see what you mean now. I guess this is something going forward I can look at when i critique a haunt. lol

For what it's worth, BGW relies very heavily on most of their haunted house locations to pull the theme off more than the original scenic. The biggest exceptions are Catacombs and Cornered, which would have no other scenery to go off of. Deadline and FrostBite are their largest mazes, but using existing scenic is an effective cost cut for both.

Valid point sir. Also i think that its smart way for BGW to be. Would lumberhack qualify with CTC and Cornered? Because if i remember correctly they built that from just open space right? i know cornered they do the best with what they have which is part of the reason i like it so much. It reminds me of the ones i did as a kid. Plus i think im just into seeing how well an actor can do with what they have.

I personally think that Deadline was one of the most disappointing houses of recent years. I have never been on curse of Pompeii but I can just imagine the cool theming that could've been there (even though I doubt it was that good.).

i agree, this past HoS deadline always seemed to be lacking good actors/good scares whenever i went through it. the only truly uncomfortable parts were when you have to bend down very low in that lighted corridor and the bathroom scene where they play the vomit sound effects.

In one place, the park says "newly themed houses." I guess this means that Deadline might receive a new name and minor changes a la Revenge of Pompeii. RoP was Curse of Pompeii, but with different costumes and fewer special effects.

That said, I am still not convinced that Deadline is entirely gone yet, whether that's good or bad.
