That first picture is actually what started me down this trail. That's the headlining image and I have a patent as well as some internal documents, I just wanted to see what else people have. Ever since you first showed that picture I've been obsessing.

Has anyone ever revealed the supposed redo that has been mentioned a few times here and recently was mentioned in the 355' festhouse thread? Was it another dark ride? Just checking if i missed something or if it was too proprietary to reveal.

Basic retheme of Darkastle to an outside IP in order to save costs and potentially sell merch to increase revenues.

The rumored IP from what I was told was the "Night at the Museum" franchise but I am uncertain of the validity of that and would need anyone else in the know to verify.

I'm sure there agree museums in Germany, just spell it all in broken German! I do actually believe whenever it does reopen it should be tied to a known IP. It just helps build interest. Even something like an extended Grims fairytale.

Wasn't the building gutted inside? Like, walls removed?

Yes and no. The set for the ride was basically completely gutted but I believe those were more or less front walls without much structure th as t would have to be removed to retheme it anyway so one does not completely rule out the other. Also the track was removed but again that could be redone.

The DK sets were all removed, which is plainly evident when going through the mazes during HoS.

However, if they were to do such a retheme, it'd make sense that they'd have to essentially gut the sets anyways.

Bigger questions are if they'd reuse the sleighs knowing they're a bit outdated (probably, considering they cost a lot, are still there, and they haven't replaced the BfE machinery since Questor so why start now), and would they be able to feasibly put anything there without a major electrical grid overhaul?

These are the images I had in mind that made me think the building was just entirely cleared.

Certainly no ride track left, right?

Um you missed out buddy.

It was a super awesome track ride. Words can't describe it. Head to the YouTubes!

I think I rode it twice, more likely only once. I remember saying I didn't like it, using the whole werewolf spitting on you and knives flying at you to cover up the fact that my friend did't like it so I didn't like it. Was actually an awesome ride.

A bit outdated is an understatement.

Also, you need to remember they scrapped every other component of the ride system including but not limited to the track, sensors, and controllers. That stuff is not cheap at all, and accounts for a major component of the cost. Especially because these models of sleighs are cheap when compared to what Universal orders. These sleighs are pneumatic and far simpler than the hydraulic ones.

Long story short, if Busch had any intention of reusing the sleighs for another dark ride of a similar style, they wouldn't of scrapped every other component of the ride system. It just doesn't make sense unless they have 0 concern for money.

My guess is they will find another way to repurpose the sleighs. They wouldn't be keeping them this long if they didn't have any ideas for them.

@lce As far as I understand from a few knowledgeable folks, those main controllers were so antiquated, they used liquid nitrogen to supplement cooling. There used to be a large tank behind the building. So, obviously, no sense keeping that stuff around.

Each time I visit the park, I like to ride the train at least from Festa to New France, because I like the "behind the scenes" access you get when riding by FestHaus field. I always try to scan the area around the Bone Yard to see if I can see anything through the trees or fencing, just to get a glimpse of something I might recognize so I can feel nostalgic. When I visited over Labor Day weekend, an employee was actually going into the bone yard gate. The Curse of DarKastle sign was right at the entrance propped against a tree. I do miss it!
