This screen above the fireplace is what they are referring too....I think.

I was thinking that above the fireplace might be a better description. Either way, there are more real show elements in that room than most other parts of the ride, aside from perhaps the dining room. There's the "fire" in the fireplace, the screen above the fireplace, and even the chandelier overhead.

Like Pompeii, it is almost unheard of for all of those effects to be working at once. Also, I haven't seen the blackout curtain at the end of the fireplace scene working at all year. Though I am also told that I might just have bad luck with that element.

P.S.: I love seeing the lines for calibration which are shown when the projectors are turned on. As you can see in Luke's photo, that screen is much bigger than you would think. This is why Ludwig looks like he is actually reaching out to pull you in.

Question: does anyone know what the construction cost of the DarKastle building was? Not including the ride elements, I mean...just the hangar and the facade/queue/etc.

Does anyone have a decent figure or even an educated estimate?

That's hard to say considering the park never releases itemized lists of prices for each attraction they install. And the fact the park never released an official total cost for DarKastle makes it even harder to figure out.

Okay, well do you happen to know the costs for any similar buildings, either at Busch Gardens or elsewhere?

The only other attraction we can reference as far as costs goes is Spidey at IOA. That attraction cost over $100 million but at the time is was created it was a prototype so a lot of that money went into R&D.

That's a major price tag. Unfortunately, though, that's exactly the kind of info I was afraid of getting tangled up in. I really would like to know the cost of building the fake castle elements of DarKastle. This is for personal reasons, but also because I think DarKastle, whatever the issues with the ride elements, is a beautiful attraction. What does it take to get that level of detail and scale, money-wise?

for a rough estimate you can use the cost of verbolten minus 10-20m for the coaster itself. should give the general idea. I don't have those numbers but I know that they are floating around.

We were there Friday as well, and noticed the audio was slightly off from the video, all the ambient noises were off, and on the 2nd to last scene, one of the projectors was off (so you could only see video in one eye). I've been on numerous times when one thing or another wasn't working (most often the fireplace FX), but nothing like that before.

I wonder if this type of thing "forces" park management to attend the issue and in return notice any other things that need to be fixed. It would be awesome if things worked that way. Then again, I think some park management might not even notice if a few things were off because they might not care about the minor details the way fans do.

The ride is really starting to "let it's self go" in my opinion. The dining room scene where Ludwig gets a head of himself really needs work done. It's been really blurry the last time I've been on it this season. The audio is sometimes late or early as well. I understand that this is 2005 era technology, but hopefully in the future it will be updated with some HD enhancements.
