Today there was no line at the ride, so I decided to ride it. I was very disappointed with the overall ride experience. The movements of the car from the very start were weak and just annoyed me more than add to the ride. The audio seemed much quieter than normal, and the video, oh gosh. The video was so blurry I had to take off my 3D glasses because the business with them on hurt my eyes so much. And it wasn't just me. Other people in my family that I was riding with had the same problems, and at the end of the ride, even these non-ride enthusiasts said that the ride was nowhere near up to the standard that they are used to with this ride. In my honest opinion, this ride needs and entire redo. A new story, new animations, new cars, better effects and clearer video. Please!

Amen. I fear a complete bulldozing would come first, though. A real shame since DarKastle could be the headlining demonstration of the park's strengths – the things that put it in Disney or Universal's category and not Cedar Fair or Six Flags': fusing storytelling, thrills, legends, and technology into an adventure for the whole family.

It's absolutely stunning to me that more than a decade later, DarKastle is STILL one of the only examples of this motion-base dark ride technology on Earth. It was so ahead of its time; so something you would NOT expect a seasonal park to tackle. But DarKastle was / could be a phenomenal, mind-blowing ride and a clever use of that still-rare technology. And it's not like it's a distant pipe dream. It just needs freshened, built out, re-animated, re-programmed, and brought into the 21st century. It's time. And every year, I eagerly await rumors that this is the off-season that it'll be completely refurbished for REAL, with a fitting ride profile, new projectors, new animation, etc. So far, it hasn't happened. But it's time.

We had the same problems we the screen being blurred during the ride and did some tests and as it turns out It was the glasses that were the cause of the problem and not the video itself. Too me the main problem with this ride was all the additional scenes removed in the so called 2006 update cause those scenes made the story much more interesting and alive. As for the sleighs not being up to standard I believe a simple overhaul of the mechanics should fix that problem, the same goes for the audio, which not the best can still be heard clearly. In all this is still a great ride with a bright future it just needs to be managed better

I rode the ride yesterday as well. I managed to find glasses that weren't too bad- after picking up several other warped glasses. The only projection that wasn't working correctly was the eight screen (second to last). The image was doubled.

If you are referring to the one on the seventh screen, then no. Some other screens have had problems which were fixed.

When I rode the ride on pass member preview day, the ride was just where it left off at the start of last season. The only fix that I could count from last year was that the dining room glare was gone.

They still need new glasses, and more of them. This would be in order to provide more buffer time for them to dry, without using too much heat.

I totally agree that this ride needs to be refreshed. I remember the first time I rode it when it opened, it was absolutely amazing to me what they could do with that technology. It's gotten a little rundown over the years. The screens often don't work correctly and sometimes just about everything is out of sync, so I would really love to see a newer version of DarKastle.

Honestly they should just stop the water splash if it causes issues with the glasses. It doesn't add much IMO and it wouldn't be noticably absent.

Does the water cause the glasses to warp? I thought it just made them wet. XD

The glasses get wet, then people wipe them and they get smudged. Also all the touching the lenses probably makes them get scratched and warped easier

Have they fixed the "spoon"(drip on the screen) yet? Or is it still there 8 years later.
Its still there. Saw it this morning and i've noticed it since my first visit four years ago. It is not a drip, it is a spoon. Thanks for posting it. I have told at least 10 people i know that have been on DarKastle multiple times and i've told them that when you hear Ludvic's mother say "your were never sane to begin with" look at the middle of the screen and there it is. None of them said they saw it.

Are they running the entry video and audio? When I was there last summer (my last trip) the queue was wide open and the entry video was not running. Thought I caught a bit of the audio as we went in but I was a bit disappointed that the video wasn't running. No matter how many times I've seen it, it always adds to the ambience of the ride. I remarked to my daughter that I was sad for those who were new to the ride that they were missing an integral part of the ride story right up front.

The video remains in still, "tapestry" format, and starts about every 30 seconds. It's most likely that you just missed it.

I had two people stay in the pre-show room once it was reverted back to queue format. They were standing off to the side, and accused me of cutting in line as I "passed" them. I tried to explain in a friendly manner that it is not a mandatory pre-show, but they just wanted to start an argument.

I motioned to the ride op. She kindly let me board the ride at the exit ramp in order to avoid clashing with them. As I was exiting the ride, they were just about to board.

You posted this on Saturday, the 26th? My sister and I tried riding around 2 and came back around 4pm and the lines were all the way out to the front entrance...
