This is one of those moments that I kept my old magazine from my extremely short-lived teen magazine phase.

One of them had brought up DarKastle in it, and had a short little blurb on it. I have to admit, I got really excited to see BG mentioned in any sort of magazine geared towards teen girls.

I remember it mentioning that this was the first big ride since Apollo's Chariot opened. But, I don't remember what else it said about it.

The wolf at the beginning is the only thing that really scared me the first time I rode this ride.

I'm glad they removed the party/dance scene because it didn't really have any scary elements, while it did add to the story.

I was 7 when this thing opened? Jesus I remember riding it for the first time on memorial day 2005 after waiting for a good 3 hours or so, then being too terrified to look the entire time.

So, did Darkastle get neutered even further?! I went on it today, and noticed 3 scenes with zero elevation, and declination of the carriage. Including the drop scene, rendering it absolutely useless now, and the scene where Ludwig chases you through the sky, and the Castle towers break on you, which again, renders that scene absolutely useless. Over half of the candles on the trees before the last scene, are either not working or barely working.

And why are they not using the double unloading zone anymore? It's no doubt, probably because they can't afford the employee, but it backs up the carriages all the way to the last scene, and slows down the loading areas.

Honestly, this ride just isn't worth it anymore, not to mention the exterior also needs major renovations. It's sad to see such a unique attraction being rendered almost useless, for no explainable reason.

Yes, they toned down the motion again about a month or two ago. They started by just removing the spinning, then they gradually made the ride less exciting. Sadly, the reason for all of this is because of the new rule as of last year, which requires entertainment department people to ride the ride. This means they have to ride it whether they want to or not. While they all know about entertaining people, and producing shows they are not all built to ride thrill rides. Therefore one complaint ruins the ride for everyone. Also, it might take a while for them to make any adjustments, if they ever do. They only ride the rides as frequently as they are required to.

That is a very good question. Since Bush Gardens has always been a park based around entertainment more so than rides, they are the most powerful department in the park. Therefore, they are usually able to wiggle their way into other departments, whether they belong in them or not.

This will be an unpopular statement, but I fail to understand the attraction to sim rides. Spiderman at Universal was okay, as is the shuttle sim at KSC, but in general they are all "meh" to me.

I think they should gut Darkastle, and move a couple of flats inside. Back in the old days, they had the Catapult inside what is now the kids theater in Ireland, it was, cold dark and spooky. I liked it, and it seems like a good use of wasted space...
