You would think Busch Gardens is at least thinking of reopening soon if they put up the reservation system and haven't pushed back the date on their calendar when it is only 5 days away.

There’s still a fairly high chance of major news soon from what I understand. There have been a lot of little birdies chirping about that possible partial reopening plan @BGWnut mentioned before. I still don’t know if a final decision has been made or not, but chances of a reopening sometime soon are higher right now than they have been since the park closed in March. Don’t be surprised if we hear something next week.

What I was thinking is we hear something from the park between today and Monday and the reservation system goes live Monday or Tuesday and park opens on Wednesday

If the tidbit of information was true and they were planning to make an announcement, they may have gotten cold feet from some information from the state revealed in this interview with the Governor. This post does not specifically say that the potential new limitations to gatherings will affect the 1000 max on amusements, but maybe they're thinking it could; or were told it would behind the scenes.

I was looking at some of the code on the site and managed to find this quote in the press release:

“We are hoping to adhere to our 1,000 person limit by only opening Europe in the Air and bringing back a limited run of Killarney Kommotion,” said Park President Lembeke.

this is obviously a fake quote, but still extremely excited that the park may be opening in some form soon. can’t wait to see everyone again, with a mask on and six feet away of course.

WTKR should be ashamed of themselves for publishing that first article. Accidentally releasing an article that isn’t ready is one thing - but referencing a nonexistent statement from the park is straight-up lying. If I were BGW, I’d be pissed at them.

Concur. I think WTKR really blew it today. Errors are one thing—they happen—but there was clearly a complete breakdown in the editorial process with that article. Even more worrying though (in my opinion) is that they just tried to bury their mistake instead of transparently owning it and issuing a correction and explanation. Frankly, if I had pulled something like that in my journalism classes in college, I’d have been in hot water. Journalistic ethics are no joke—reader trust is crucial to the entire occupation. If a mistake is made, the outlet is supposed to fess up and fix it, not just pretend it never happened.

I have no clue if this means anything but, the cover on google for BGW no longer says temporarily closed, It now just says closed. And it says updated by business 3 weeks ago.

Yeah, a classic case of a story getting published when it was just being pre-written to be ready once the park announced an opening date. It's PLAUSIBLE that they've had the article stub written and have been editing it every time the calendar moves, for example, which might explain the "according to a release by the park" line that (rightfully) signaled to us it might NOT be using the calendar. It's also possible someone just got particularly anxious right now, perhaps because they've been following the rumors and the activity at the park much as we have.

We'll see if Northam makes any kind of move: I don't really know if the 250 vs. 50 question for "gatherings" necessarily changes things on an amusement park level if they're not doing entertainment or opening Festhaus, but again: optics.

That's weird, I swear I thought I heard him say he would open DarKastle.

I haven't heard anything new, but from what I understand they want the time frame from announcement to recalling furloughed employees and reopening to be as short as possible. People that I've talked to tell me that it wouldn't be a surprise for the park to reopen the week that they begin recalling furloughed employees.

Sorry to double post but that is considered another advantage of a partial reopening. They wouldn't need to recall as many people and the they wouldn't need to have the entire park ready to reopen. This is all means that they could be back at it much quicker. I am thinking that it's unlikely that they reopen next week in light of what the governor said. It's possible that they were planning on announcing this week that they will reopen next week and then they were made aware that the governor is potentially going to place tougher restrictions that night make it harder to open. It's smart to pause and hold on announcing instead of announcing your are reopening and then having to say that you aren't anymore.

Hey do we know which rides specifically have been seen testing? May give some indication of which areas they are planning to have open ?

Also curious - even if they've previously certified the rides, how long do those certs last if the rides haven't been operated?

I assume if the cert is for a calendar year, it doesn't matter if there's significant downtime or not, but I can also seeing a stipulation that they have to cycle a certain amount through the year to retain the certification.
