So on a FB group someone is claiming that they received a passholder email from the park saying that they are not reopening till Hallowscream. I didn't get one and have not seen any reference to one with that info anywhere has anyone else seen this?

I'd put this in the realm of blatent falsehood.

Forewarning; excuse me if any of this has been brought up already. I didn't have time to read the entire thread, just a few of the latest posts.

@WDWRLD You are correct about the medical privacy laws; however, I think the point that you seem to be missing is that just because the park issues a policy where they do not allow someone to enter the park without wearing a mask, does not mean it needs to be heavily enforced. The goal of the policy is not to strictly enforce people wearing masks, but rather to get most guests to wear them. If people hear that masks are required, they will instinctively wear them.

That said, they don't necessarily have to have their employees ask or demand someone wear them. It can be a 'relaxed' policy. Or they can kindly remind guests they are required when entering the park, and at that point the guest may say they have a medical condition at which point the employee should just let them pass.

It is no different than with service animals. If someone comes to the park with a dog or other animal, they are permitted by law to ask, "Is the animal a service animal?" and "What service does the animal provide?" Those two questions are authorized and permitted by law. However, because of the negative PR that most companies face in these particular situations, they do not ask most of the time and just let anything through. They only ever deal with this kind of issue when the animal appears to be uncontrollable and/or aggressive and/or disruptive to other guests.

I can visualize the same thing happening with the masks. They would likely only ever approach anyone unless a complaint was made, and even then they may do nothing or as I said previously, simply remind the guest masks are required and if the person mentions anything in regards to a medical exception the employee backs off.

Also in regards to self-service drinks, plenty of locations are not allowing them. Wawa is a prime example.

This is just me personally but I would be more willing to wear a mask if it was just nicely asked as in a way that I stated above. However if the park puts up signs saying its mandatory or required that rubs me wrong. I can also see some team members overstepping their boundaries and demanding you have one one no matter what. This type of thing has been disscusses here before with things like photos. I have already seen some power hungry folks at the doors of Home Depot and Walmart.

And since the discussion of the park removing the self service drinks keeps coming up, should the park do away with the refillable cups to cut down on cross contamination? How about BFE? By all purposes that ride may never open again.

Hey I think they will be closed for the rest of the month I know it’s sad but we have to take care of are selfs through this tough time. But it’s gonna be sad not to go to hollow
Scream this year. But everyone is trying to stay safe. And not get sick. And stay home. And do what they are suppost. To do. But I know everyone is sad. But look the better we get through this. The more fun we can have in the coming years at Busch gardens. In 2021.

Interesting situation assuming they go to full-on disposable cups. First we'd have to assume there's enough cups in the supply chain to make such a switch though with a lower attendance cap I'm not sure how much it's a true consideration.

The problem is the environmental impact coming from a company branded as caring about conservation. Obviously this was somewhat of an issue before, but the sales and ability to reuse items made it easier to swallow.

As for BfE - good riddance IMO. While I can appreciate what they were trying to do with VR, the story and technical implementation just fell flat for me. However, if they were to do some reconfiguration of the theater spaces to double the amount of ride vehicles while increasing space between guests (same or slightly less capacity overall), it's possible they could get another movie not requiring a special VR headset other guests have to touch and keep the attraction running.

The air circulation inside Battle for Eire is a a far bigger issue than just people touching the VR headsets. The tunnels going into the theater do not ventilate well and are probably about as bad a spot in the park as possible for breathing in droplets or aerosols with the virus. I could see this attraction being down for a long time unless they can come up with a really modified operation to make it work safely.

Good point, didn't think of that. They could make an alternate outdoor entrance in the back of the building maybe?

Our copy of the email came 4 minutes ago. Addressed to our son. He's 4 years old.

My email was addressed to our 7 year old. I suspect its because she is the only one of us who has a pass with an expiration date where additional days could be added.

I, too, believe BfE will be the last thing to reopen in a post-COVID world. The challenges involved with trying to make it safe are immense and I don’t think the demand exists to justify all of that time, effort, or investment.

Theoretically the VR components can be stripped out entirely and it could run in screen-only mode but frankly, is it even worth it? I tend to think not at all...

Is this a death sentence for BfE? Maybe—I think there’s a real chance it never runs again—but I hope I’m wrong. I’m not a fan of the attraction, but seeing any ride die without notice “in its sleep” is rough.

Our four year old is on a preschool pass though..

Based on everything mentioned around the time of the current video's release (BfE) the only major change was the VR, they probably haven't done much to update the ride systems so if anything this gives the park an opportunity to do a major refurb over the next few years.

Of course, it's more likely this simulator will go the way of DK...

Could they use an outside line and use the H as Hallowscream entrence to get them more or less right to the ride? Not sure if the lay out would permit that but it seems like it could be an option.

What about reversing the exit and entrance and just have a TM verbally communicate how to enter/exit and do away with VR for the year?

EDIT:
I saw someone mention maybe it’s the end for this ride system. Personally I doubt it. Without DK, BfE/the ride system is the only indoor ride left and I think having an indoor ride like this is important to keep.

I definitely think the BfE queue issues are the easiest to fix of the ride’s problems. That said, do we think it is even worth running a VR-less, socially distanced BfE at all? Even under the best circumstances (with VR, a dark, air-conditioned cave queue, and a busy park) Battle for Eire has never really been very popular. It just seems like a lot of work without much reward to me honestly. ?

Could they possibly get the rights to Corkscrew Hill for a few months or bring back Europe in the Air for a few months?

Yes I too just got the email saying ive been upgraded to Platinum for the remainder of 2020. Now we switched to memberships the first week they were offered and since then they added the Platinum level but we were grandfathered. When that additional level was created they removed the access to the other parks from Premier and created the Platinum level. At that time the Premier were grandfathered....now I wonder at the end of 2020 will ours revert back to the grandfathered pass. This just seems to be another layer of confusion in the BGW pass system.

Im not complaining....just worried it will get screwed up.
