so my boyfriend just informed me a guy who said he works maintenance for busch gardens came into his [my boyfriend's] workplace and they were talking about shutdowns/virus/etc, and the maintenance guy said BG is now using the tentative date of May 1.

Scary how close to accurate this was.

Extending the dining plan into next season for the number of months they are closed also wont work. So say they give you march and april 2021 for free on the dining plan but then you buy the 2021 dining plan...now you have double paid for two months.

The same thing could be said for passes. Either reduce rate to finish 2021 or renew on your new plan expiration. Not really a problem.

But if the dining plans are for the 2020 season or 2021 season they dont last 365 days from date of purchase they expire at the end of the season.

Eventually BGW will need to switch to a meal plan setup that isn’t tied to the calendar year and is instead 12 months like passes. The current system seems like a test, not the final iteration of the system.

You might want to reread my post.

EDIT:
Also how that’s going to be figured out really isn’t a problem right now.

In that this is a amusement/theme park fan site, I'm certain I'm in the minority, but I'm definitely not setting foot on the hallowed grounds of BGW until there is an effective vaccine for this current strain.

I just feel, no matter how many "keep them safe" protocols are put into place, there's going to be cracks in the system; a disgruntled or plain lazy employee that doesn't wipe down the "Grand Central Station" of bathrooms (the ones at the ticket booths); a ride op with a half-assed wipe down of LNM; an accidental sneeze in the serving line at Trapper's; an area host that fails to wash up after cleaning up a "wet 10-3" by the InvadR exit....

And then you have the guests; the "I'm more important" family; the "I ain't gonna catch it" group; the "it was all a big hoax anyway" group; the teens that think it's funny to "pretend cough" at an Oktoberfest game; or the family that holds up the entire line while they sanitize their kiddies like they're scrubbing for surgery...

And, with all that going on, it just won't be fun. Even with reduced park capacity lines for rides will be long...6ft apart in the humidity...waiting for them to wipe down a train (so eventually the ride op feels the pressure of people bitching..see above). Indoor shows might happen but, again, smaller capacity, longer waits. Food service will be slow because nothing will be self-serve...not even sodas. Want to go into a shop to cool down or actually shop?....gotta wait until a few people leave...

Couple all that with me falling into the "CoronAARP" group it's not worth it. In fact, I wouldn't go even it was a comp. I know my son and his family (with a couple of pre-teens) decided not to renew season tickets for pretty much the same reasons (with no prodding from dear old GrandpaD and Nanny). So I'm riding this season (if it happens) out until a Doctor (not named Drew, Phil or Trump) tells me my primary physician has a vaccine for me.

Workers need to be wearing masks. Guests should be recommended to wear masks. That’s the best way to seal cracks in that system when they open back up.

Why @GrandpaD do you think they will change the self serv drink stations? Would you rather a team member with the same gloved hand that has touched the 50 guests dirty souvineer cups before you refill yours or would you rather touch your own cup yourself? To me it makes no sense to remove the self service machines.
Ill leave this example...Pierces BBQ in Williamsburg reopemed with the same old setup of you filling your own soda cups.

One policy I think BGW seriously needs to look at is the team members cell phone use. They need to ban team members having and using personal cell phones while working. This not a new problem, and I see it all the time. Them wearing gloves at food stands but pulling their phones out of their pockets and texting or doing whatever whenever they get a second between guests. Those phones are not clean.

The not being fun issue may be what really keeps a lot of folks away. It's hard to have fun when you're constantly worrying about getting close to someone, that you washed your hands before touching your face, or that your not downstream of the HVAC. Throw in managing kids in that environment and I could see a lot of folks going once and then deciding to ride the virus out before returning.

I can't speak for @GrandpaD but I will speak for myself:
I would rather not touch a soda fountain anyone can put their own hands all over, cough all over, or god forbid worse in regular times, let alone now. I can easily wipe down my own cup after they touch it or wash my hands when I'm done. Can't do that with a soda machine.

Guests should be recommended to wear masks.

Why are we only recommending? I don’t get people’s opposition to mask requirements. Yeah, it’ll suck. Too bad. It keeps people safe.

If we expect the cast members to suffer in masks all day to help keep us safe, we sure as hell better be doing the same to help keep them safe too.

Just like on airplanes and starting next week in Costco stores, masks should be mandatory for EVERYONE.

Because they can not mandate masks due to HIPPA and ADA laws. Many people have medical conditions that prevent them from wearing a mask. If someone does not have one on no park could ask the condition why they are not wearing one.

I have never heard of that. What’s the sourcing of it?

The existence of slim exceptions doesn’t invalidate the rule. Here is Cosco’s new policy:
To protect our members and employees, effective May 4, all Costco members and guests must wear a face covering that covers their mouth and nose at all times while at Costco. This requirement does not apply to children under the age of 2 or to individuals who are unable to wear a face covering due to a medical condition.

The use of a face covering should not be seen as a substitute for social distancing. Please continue to observe rules regarding appropriate distancing while on Costco premises. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

BGW should implement the same.

This provided link specifically says those with health conditions.....and the HIPPA laws say that your mediccal information is private so Costco can not ask why.
