A lot of these things will be mitigated by massively reducing park capacity I think. I don’t think I expect busy summer days to be possible if social distancing restrictions remain.

Main Entrance - In my limited exposure to various amusement parks, I find BGW to have one of the most confining main entrances at parks. You'd assume (from guidelines) touchless temperature/bag checks will occur there. To eliminate congestion, all the turnstiles will have to be open. More manpower will be needed to avoid backups.

So this is my main concern with BGW. The entrance isn't particularly big or wide, and on the average day can get quite claustrophobic. I made comment that parks were going to have to figure out how to better facilitate entering, and I did write that with BGW in mind.

I wonder if short term they could use the area by Ireland and by the France train crossing as 'additional' entrances for members only?

But I think if there's long term effects of social distancing that need to be put into place (I've read about how some companies are rethinking 'communal work spaces', some are going to outlaw hand shakes, more are going to do a flex schedule to mitigate how many people enter and exit together); BGW might be forced to re-do their entry plaza.

Random BGW/SEAS thought (unrelated yet related):
There was the thread about SPW floating around, and something was supposed to be done with SPSD with the water park in order for SEAS to fulfill their 2nd SP park....has anyone heard any news on coronavirus's effect on this agreement?

I don’t thing that extreme cleaning and distancing will be needed. I also think that if it does BGW won’t do it. They will choose to close first.

What makes you believe we won't need what science is proving necessary?
Completely wiping down the Carousel between each ride? Come on are people licking the seats before they sit down? Use common sense.....don’t touch unnessassary shit, don’t touch your face and wash your hands correctly before touching your face.
You do realize that if you really think about how this transmission works you can only safely seat people in the one front row on any rollercoaster? This disease is transmitted through droplets, so if that front row rider sneezes or coughs producing droplets the rest of the rows will be pulled directly through that droplet cloud infecting anyone from that carrier. The only safe ride at BGW is the sky ride.

I’ve been thinking about this a lot and I can’t figure out a way to solve it either. It’s not good. ?

Considering how long the virus can survive on different surfaces, I would say that's absolutely necessary unless BGW wants to have the crap sued out of them.

And homemade masks are not a option. Unless a mask can completely stop droplets then it’s no good. Half these people you see wearing so called masks in stores are doing nothing for themselves or others. It’s false hope. The park will also need to ban the use of gloves. People can not be allowed to wear gloves and cross contaminate everything because they aren’t washing hands.

I've been trying to reconcile this and I think the only real answer is the thrill rides might be closed for a little while. Much of what I'm reading says even if we can "re-open" the country or states, it's going to take until a vaccine is developed for there to be a true sense of relief. Scientists and experts are saying there might not be any sporting events with a crowd until fall of 2021.

So is someone at every bus stop wiping the bench between each rider? No....dont lick the seat and you will be fine. People need to grow up and do what they should have been doing all along.

Very unrealistic to assume it would be possible to properly wipe every seat on every ride down after every round.

Either the wait times will be way too long for anyone to bother or the operators will be in a hurry to get the cleaning done and not do it properly.
.. most likely both, now that I think about it.

And then you still aren't guaranteed to not walk by someone asymptomatic talking to his family and getting you infected through droplets in the air.

The park won't be save unless a large percentage of the population is vaccinated or it is possible to test everyone coming in.

Except the carousel is often used for little kids... Little kids who despite their parents making them wash their hands, still stick their hands in their mouth. Or don't cover their mouth when they cough. So like those poles are nasty at all times, bc little kids are gross germ machines even during normal non pandemic times.

And think about this....just because BGW gives a squirt bottle and a rag to a team member to wipe the ass sweat off a seat does not mean it’s clean to the point that BGW would have no liability. Unless that team member is trained on how to clean and they are also trained on the chemical product they are applying there are more issues than just someone getting sick.

No need to imagine.

When the parks reopen, things are going to be crazy.

The key word was "properly".

Yeah, they can drag a disinfectant wipe over the surfaces quickly but how effective is that really?
It's mostly for show to make people feel better.

just got an email that Northam is going to announce today that he is leaving his isolation/distancing in place until August 15. If that's the case (And, I hope it is wrong) BGW is done for the year.

The hypothetical points I made were based upon the guidelines that were being discussed in California for restaurants, etc. Is it feasible? Probably not. It's it realistic? I doubt it.

But if similar guidelines were established in this state, you have to wonder whether it would even be economically feasible to even consider opening. The physical changes, the logistics to execute and the additional manpower needed might be more than BGW/SEAS is willing to undertake.

I agree that nothing will be totally effective—but wiping down rides each cycle is much safer than not doing that.

A B&M hyper with a very open seat design and a large crew is probably much easier to clean than a Carousel with 50-something horses, dozens of touch points, and a single op. It just seems so difficult so for so many rides.

Most stores and places right now “cleaning” between customers are doing nothing. Most chemicals have a wet dwell time that can be a minute or more. The squirt and wipe is doing almost nothing.
