I would argue that the biggest change here is more Royal Palace-related than anything else: park is still in a separate category that gives them 50% capacity of what’s open, but the guidance on outdoor venues gives them more leeway to think about outdoor shows (not that it seems Entertainment is a significant priority during Food and Wine).

My question is what does BGW consider to be capacity? If 30K than I guess they can increase to 10K? Then you have to start to wonder about parking and running trams again. If the skip every other row on a tram that is going to be a nightmare.

Last June, Kevin Lembke told the JCC Board of Supervisors that BGW's capacity is 24,000. Source.

" 10. Entertainment and Amusement Businesses Performing arts venues, concert venues, sports venues, convention centers, expos, movie theaters, museums, aquariums, fairs, carnivals, public and private social clubs, botanical gardens, entertainment centers, historic horse racing facilities, bowling alleys, skating rinks, arcades, trampoline parks, arts and craft facilities, escape rooms, amusement parks and zoos, and other places of public amusement may open provided such businesses comply with the Guidelines for All Business Sectors and the sector-specific guidelines for entertainment and public amusement, which are expressly incorporated by reference herein. Such guidance includes, but is not limited to, the following requirements:

a. The total number of spectators indoors cannot exceed the lesser of 30 percent of the lowest occupancy load on the certificate of occupancy, if applicable, or 500 persons. The total number of spectators for outdoor venues cannot exceed 30 percent of the lowest occupancy load on the certificate of occupancy. If no occupancy load has been determined, a ratio of 40 square feet per person shall be used to determine 8 occupancy limits – only square footage that is likely to be accessed may be included. For example, a 100,000 square foot outdoor venue would have an occupancy load of 2,500 – of which no more than 30% (750 persons) shall be permitted."

Interesting. This would seem to cap the park off at 8,000 or so, without the wiggle room that the 50% afforded them. Curious to hear what conversations they're having with the state about May/June at this point.

IIRC KD's capacity is around 48k, which would give them an allowed capacity of around 15k. I've got to imagine BGW's actual capacity is somewhat similar to KD.

It might not be if you factor how much wider the midways and how much more outside the park is at KD - not sure if that figure also includes Soak City in the square footage since that is part of the park sorta but could be considered as a separate venue?

That 48k is based on fire requirements, so it probably includes Soak City, the concert area, every building, and employee only areas. Its unlikely KD could put anywhere near 48k in just the park itself.

I remember it sure felt like it in one of my last trips in 2019 - but then again the wait time for any ride wasn't particularly crazy

Not sure where to ask this. Does anybody know what is going to be open during the next 2 weeks for spring break? I know what is open for F&W but what about Monday - Thursday?

I think we’re expecting the same core attractions lineup as Food & Wine during the week, but I don’t think BGW has committed to that officially.

One would presume that being able to save on staffing for the F&W stands would allow them to be able to run the rest of the attraction lineup without difficulty, but it’s a hard time to presume anything given the staffing issues.

The only problem with this is that the people working the F&W stands probably have no knowledge on working rides because it’s probably run by a different department.

It's less "literally move those employees around" and more "money saved from not staffing the F&W will make it so despite lower attendance during weekdays they can still keep the attraction lineup stable."

Hi, I wasn’t sure where to post this but I showed up today with a group having all-day reservations. We showed up to see the park closed off and another group that was in the same situation as us (I believe they went up to talk to people at the gate) saying that due to a tornado warning, they won’t be opening til 3PM.

Is this true? Does anyone have info on if they’re even opening today? Sorry for being so out of the loop, I was just wondering if anyone was knowing what was going on. Thanks in advance!

The park was only sedchule to open at 3 today.
