I had the opportunity to check out the park from 11-3 on Friday and was blown away by my visit. It felt very surreal to be back in the park, especially with the empty pathways and shuttered stores. Walking through the park feels like a dream, at least for any ParkFan. The park looks fresh, seriously clean. It has not looked like this in several years and it’s apparent they had been putting in work throughout the closure. Also a bit of a fun fact, several of the hamlets have switched back to their audio from the mid-2000’s and it feels great to hear these iconic tunes from my childhood, again.

All the employees were incredibly nice and on point throughout my whole visit despite the heat. Mask enforcement was nearly 100% and anytime someone had their mask off in front of an employee, they were quickly told to put to put it back on. There’s a sense of unity in the park right now and it just feels like everyone is just happy to be back. The friendliness and hospitality that employees displayed harkened back to the AB days in a way I hadn't seen in awhile.

The rides are running extremely smooth and I never waited more than two dispatches on any of the coasters. With social distancing my friends and I were sometimes the only people on a train which was a rather unique experience. InvadR did have a line spilling out into the midway at some point so that ride seems to garner the longest wait for most of the day.

My only complaint is there needs to be more food and beverage locations. Opening O’Tators or Squires with a broader menu that satisfies the average guest would do wonders. People seemed to be eating and drinking even more than a normal visit due to the mask policy and another eatery would just loosen the blow. Trapper’s had a massive line for most of the visit and with a short window already, it was hard to justify waiting in line, selecting food, and then eating a whole meal in this time frame. My group and I opted to snack around the park and we’re a bit bummed with the offerings. There’s just not a lot of unique food and most places are closed. I understand it’s hard to staff restaurants sometimes, but there just needs to be at least one more snack stand open.

I had a great time on Friday and would highly recommend the event for it’s quiet taste of BGW. I managed to snag a reservation from 5-9 tonight and I’m already super excited to be able to go back for the night shift.

I do have to say, after our Dollywood experience a few weeks ago, BGW and the general public are doing such a great job with masks and social distancing at this event.

The outliers are few and far between during our session so far this morning.

Completely agree after our visit today. That said, do keep in mind there are others out there raising concerns about queue rails not being wiped down continuously.

Ah, thank you for spreading my virus. I feel ANY point of high contact should be wiped, not just the rides. That is my opinion. Tables, credit card pads, bathroom doors, any high traffic touch surface, etc. Considering one surface above another is just a feel a good measure. You all act like it is such a hard thing to take a little extra precaution. What does it hurt? Walmart sanitizes their shopping carts. Wouldn't that be better than keeping this virus in motion for another year?

God, you wouldn't believe how many people I see leave a bathroom at BGW that doesn't even bother to wash their hands. I don't have faith they are using the sanitizer correctly. Don't confuse "not being wiped down continuously" with "that extra little step of precaution". Just like it isn't hard to wear a masks right. But that doesn't change how often I see them worn wrong. So protect yourselves and others by doing ALL you can. Mask, distance, cleaning.

WOW, y'all. You'd be burning down the pages if I suggested not wearing masks. IF people would quit being selfish and do all 3 precautions, surfaces wouldn't be so "touchy". It is quite obvious people are not following recommendations or we wouldn't still be where we are. And why do the LEAST we can do when we can easily do the MOST we can do? And this is not pertaining only to BGW before you also put words in my mouth of bashing their performance.

There's certainly a healthy middle ground to be had here. I think not expecting that much wiping of surfaces is not good, but expecting it to be wiped almost consistently is too high of expectations on the other hand. The reason there's so many "conflicting" reports of the sustainability of the virus on surfaces is because we are literally watching scientific method and research happening in real time rather than what we are used to from most of this happening behind the scenes. The most up to date research is showing that there's low likelihood of transmission via surface without someone literally licking, sneezing, or coughing on a surface, you touch it, then touch your face. A friendly reminder that viruses need a way into your body and into the blood stream and touching something alone won't cause you to get sick, you would need to touch an open wound, eyes, nose, mouth without sanitizing first. So even if a surface isn't sanitized as often as you would like you can still protect yourself.

Thank you for a level-headed assessment instead of being accusatory or snide. Fully approved! At LEAST ride the middle, do better if you can. It doesn't hurt. Doing no prevention certainly causes harm. No one knows and it changes daily, if it's an easy prevention or precaution, just practice it in case it's the one that matters when the science is over. Not following heated emotion nor striving to be the one that says"I told you so." Unlike others, I see good in not harming or possibly killing others by my actions. I wish others were as concerned for me and loved ones, in return. #theselfishentitled

To be fair transmission by surface is exceedingly rare, even according to the CDC. I'd really rather skip the cleaning and focus on hand washing and sanitizer, which the park is doing great with.

The procedure is supposed to be that you bring your bottle, fill up a paper cup, scan your bottle for the dicount refill price, then either drink out of the paper cup or dump the drink from the paper cup to your bottle.

Wait....what? I thought there were no refills or refillable cups offered. I’ve been paying full price for sodas.
