Good news! Looks like BGW is allowing you to easily change or cancel your reservation now here. If you have mistakenly picked the wrong date, or just cant go on the date(or one of the dates) you have chosen, you don't have to wait for who knows how long on the phone now. Hopefully, this will free up some space for more passmembers/holders.

See, my interpretation of that was that they would actually not be utilizing England at all, but instead actually relocating the entrance stiles of the park to the England parking lot, and entering through the space between Ireland and Wolf Haven.

That's my understanding of it as well.
That would require that the metal detectors be moved from their current location. The temperature screening tents are set up to have guests go down the hill to the entry deck and aren’t near the Ireland gate so I am thinking regular turnstiles.

I definitely understand that reading. What surprised me was that they specifically suggest that "Guests can enjoy plenty of open space as they explore the charm of select villages including Ireland, Scotland, France and New France." And to me, even if you were just able to walk through England, it's a bit strange to me that you wouldn't still be able to "explore the charm" of it?

But in thinking about it, it raises the question of where they would operate customer service from if England itself isn't open.

They actually routed traffic through that path a few years back for a while after there was a bomb threat to the England part of the park so it is definitely doable. Also they moved one metal detector up to the top of the hill just for the Ace event last winter so they probably are not as hard to move as you might think.

The metal detectors aren't actually attached to anything. They are designed to be moved around easily and quickly as needed. The rest of the equipment is also mobile and would be easy to move. Obviously it is up to the park but I find it hard to believe that if they were saying the turnstiles they wouldn't advertise England as a part of the experience.

So I have just cancelled a reservation that I had accidentally booked for August 9th on the website. Can confirm that it does immediately open up a spot for another passholder/member. As of the time this post is posted, there is a reservation available on BGW's website for another person(at 11am).

Depending on the success of this event, curious if they do another event where they open up to other side of the park for a couple of weeks. Logistics for entry / exit are harder on the other side of the park, but certainly doable, and they could set up the outside beer garden outside Festhaus.

To open Festa/Italy/Germany they could send parking to the Germany lot, direct walkers across the tram bridge, into the closest gate, then into the gate near Apollo.
I'm hoping the next round of coasters and crafts is on the other side of the park. Even if Pantheon isn't finished.

I do think it is interesting that there is no mention of either their biggest gift shop or their main pin shop, both of which are in Banbury. While I can see that there is a real and problematic bottleneck on the path, I wonder how much revenue they my be forgoing, if nothing in that area opens.

I have a strong feeling that they’re going to have to completely redo what’s normally in some of those shops in order to have a wider variety of merch. They’re going to have to bring in what they know sells well from all around the park.

I haven't read most of the forum, but I can't help but wonder. Will they open a different area of the park after 8/16?

Maybe someone else can speak more definitively but based on what @Zachary has said I get the feeling it’s all in how it goes early. Although given the guest limits I would say unlikely, especially if they hit 1000 guests and everyone is spread out. Doesn’t make sense to add staff and add space if you aren’t adding guests.

I wonder if this goes well and runs a profit if we might see some type of rotating area plan to keep the space and staff use low but provide different rides and possibly increase return visits.

We're 2:45 away. If they rotated the half of the park that was open, we'd drive down, spend a night in a hotel, and visit the whole park over 2 days.
