Christmas Town

I was snooping around on the Christmas Town website today and saw that it said they boast 8 million lights, i don't know if that's more than last year( i think it was 7 last year) but it is still a lot! Also it said that it will be open until 10 o clock everyday too! don't know if it just says that now and it will be updated later or if will actually be open until 10 every day there open.

Also, I would just like to say how much I love Christmas Town, the atmosphere is totally different from any other time of year and I try to go as much I can ( or as much as I could before I had to move) even though there is only one coaster open for me to ride.

Ibam pretty sure that toward the end of Christmas Town last year or at pass holders preview announcements they said that they were going 10 every night because of the large crowds they saw last year.  Also I think last year was billed as over 8 million so we might see that changed to higher count.

However looking at the map one small change I noticed is that the bridge from heart attack hill is shown.  Last year that area was blocked off if I remember correctly.  I wonder what caused the reversal on that and if we could see any new stuff along the Rhine. Lokking closely at the map it almost looks like lights on Loc Ness that would be neat IF that is the case.

I sure hope that bridge is open, I have never actually been on it during Christmas Town as I started going in 2014, but from what i've seen on previous years threads it was quite a sight to see. Also it will help with all the foot traffic

My understanding is that the bridge was closed for safety reasons, but I thought it was beautiful when they did have it open the first year.

More importantly, I see penguins on the map.

Actually, were exactly did you find this map? I don't see the ice show. If it is new and final, it is very interesting.

Edit: it must be old, because it doesn't have Marco Polos.

It was on the Christmas Town 2016 site and was listed as Christmas Town 2016 map. I missed those 2 things it must be a old one being used a filler till they post the new one. Also interestingly they have a different map on the mobile site then the main one. The main site has last years map still.

I know that Twas the Night was a 4 or 5 year contract so that for sure will be around for a while.

Given the popularity of Gloria and Scruge no more I can't see them going anywhere and since you are usually right I guess deck the halls is here to stay. Could we see a new show in Italy this year? EVery time I have been there Miracles has had low attendance.

I wouldn't mind seeing Miracles being replaced by a good new show. If they decide to return it for another year, at least revert back to Lesli Shriver's choreography. Christopher D'Amboise and Karma Camp just don't cut it. I still go to the show, but I look away, only to hear the music and watch the lights move.

I can't wait for Christmas Town 2016! I was just thinking about it the other day while I was in the park.

I usually prefer very smaller groups but they usually ending up getting larger every visit to the park.

I'm hoping they don't offer the "Twinkle Ticket" again this year. If they do the crowds will again be stupid.

I've said it before but Christmastown is such a solid event that it doesn't need that gimmick any longer. If they do want to do it again they should limit when they do it. No need the first two weeks, always packed and the week or two before Christmas is crazy as well. So pretty much the entire time ha.

Do we know how Rudolph will be incorporated yet? Will this be a meet and greet or is it more likely to be a show?

IMO, this will fill a hole in entertainment geared towards children that the departure of the Christmas Sesame Street show and the penguins left.

It would be cool if they incorporate it into EiTA like how at SWO they turn the Wild Arctic into the Polar Express.

Thing is, before the $12 ticket deal, the park was virtually dead outside of Black Friday and Thanksgiving Saturday those first couple weekends. Good for us, but not good for the park's bottom line.

Don't expect the park to drop that deal anytime soon. The best way for the park to deal with the crazy $12 ticket crowds would be to get rid of the individual days you could use the ticket and just make it valid throughout all of CT much like the current bring a friend ticket system.

I agree with Nicole. Allowing a limited number of tickets on certain days would be a great crowd control measure. Since less rides are open the more crowding on the paths is a problem and that would certainly help.

You would have a mass amount of people trying to exit the theater while large groups would come up through the Wildlife Reserve and others were coming down through France. Couple that with a train coming through, it was gridlock. As bad as a traffic jam on the interstate. My family got trapped in it a few times and we literally couldn't move for 5-10 minutes. People started getting pretty anxious and some children even got separated.

I would imagine the park got some heat from state and local police from the back up problems on 64; especially after the local news reporting it. Hopefully they have a plan in place to make some changes.

Last year and I'm virtually positive the year before, the park advertised that it had over 8 million lights. I believe in 2013 they were advertising it was over 6 million. They raised it to 8 in 2014. So this will be the third year in a row with 8. I just hope they change up the color schemes of the hamlets this year as the last two years its been virtually identical even though I love the way it is now a change would be nice.
