I thought it was great. Walked on AC then Pantheon at about 6. Looked like all rides in Festa were open except Tempesto. Didn’t look like Verbolten was open but not sure if temps had dropped by the time we got over there. Swings and all the kid rides in that area were operating. Ate dinner at festhaus and I know the temps were below 40 when we left about 7 so obviously nothing was really going after that. Train ride as always was fun but I have 2 under 5 so they eat it up which obviously helps my perception of it.

Park was empty. Wish Marcos and sky ride were open but not surprising about the sky ride given how cold it was. Had an awesome time and we agreed that Ctown members only night is our favorite night of the year to go.
I was there and it was not all that bad in my opinion. The park looked better then I anticipated the flat rides with the exception of Finigan we're open. They had crews visible in at least two stations when I entered so I believe the we're planning on running all the coasters but didn't likely do to temperature at the highest point. Invadr was running most of the night. The crew there should get credit as they ran it right up till they got the temperature warning on the board and had to shutdown. I know because I on the last train they dispatch and heard them say the system just went red for temp as I was exciting

Hey there, what rides are open for Christmas town? Standard cold weather rides of Apollos Invadr Bolt and Alpengeist? (Plus maech tower but that doesn’t count)

Has anyone been to Santa's Fireside Feast? I have it booked for Saturday and wondering if it's less of an event or better than what it used to be. With my recent experiences at BGW amd SWO, I'm guessing less.

We always go to the Festhaus when we go to CT. But is there any other places that are open during CT that have good food?

Whaling Company, Sportsman Grille, and Maurizio's are all nearby. Go into town and DoG Street Pub as well as Hound's Tale and Berret's, all super solid.

Moral of the story, park food sux now. Do not recommend, 0/10, all trash.

I probably missed a million good places, I'm just not local so I don't have the luxury of hitting them all. If BGW's food continues on this downward spiral though, the nearby restaurants will continue to see my and many others business

Speaking of food and CT - not being local this year and not having any reason to go, I'll miss getting a pretzel and walking over to EfP to eat it while looking at the lights. BGW is one of the few places that get close to what a soft pretzel should taste like.

Unfortunately it seems like the quality drops off FAST when it's only slightly not-fresh.
As a good soft pretzel should, not that buttered Auntie Ann’s bull shit bread in a pretzel shape.

Sucks to hear about that quality though. Outside of Dutch Pennsylvania it’s one of the few places that made something acceptable (source: family pretzel bakery).

Speaking about pretzels:

As a German I can confirm that Lidl is selling very authentic German Style Brezels and Brezel buns. (Laugenwecken)
Authentic Brezels are supposed to have a crunchy outer crust but be soft inside.

They seem to have plenty of stores in Hampton Roads, Richmond and around Northern Virginia now.

I am a big fan if Food for Thought.

I definitely agree the menu for Christmas Town is pretty awful this season and seems to decline every year. The main season is really no different. Definitely a shame for a park that was known for having incredible food.

You forgot Pierce's

I know some lifelong Williamsburg residents will die defending Pierce's but in my opinion for BBQ, Old City BBQ is far and away better than Pierces. And it's much closer to Busch Gardens if we're talking about substitutes for eating at the park.

Never had it but while interested probably won't be able to convince folks I'm usually with to try

Is that steak house on Richmond rd any good? Can't think of the name off hand.

How does old city compare to Roco's bbq?
There are two Aberdeen Barns which is really good but a little pricey. And Chophouse which tends to be a little less expensive and less crowded as well as also being cheaper. Honestly the later is usually my go to of the two.

At this point if you want a better meal go to McDonalds......the park food is hugely overpriced an varies by minute and by whos serving it. They keep shrinking the plates thinking that no one will notice. Heck some nights the way they slop the food on the plate makes your school cafeteria days look gourmet. When I was there a couple weeks ago even the starbucks was closed.
