RE: Christmas Town 2012 Rumors

I say that the penguins is the worst... Wait in an hour+ line to see 2 penguins in a large fish tank

RE: Christmas Town 2012 Rumors

Actually 4 penguins in 2 large fish tanks, plus don't forget the 6 or so in the big swimming tank. I also saw the return of some fake penguins. I think the entrance was better looking, I like how they opened that area up now, which makes me think they will continue to do more with this space.

I think this "attraction" is simply more of a zoo exhibit all "dressed up" for Christmas. What would really be cool, is if they could build a polar bear exhibit under Pompeii, to really complete the Polar Pathway, that and get a giant fake polar bear instead of Santa.

RE: Christmas Town 2012 Rumors

If Coca-Cola ends up sponsoring the Polar Pathway, I don't see the Santa going anywhere...

RE: Christmas Town 2012 Rumors

The only time I saw the penguins was the first year of ct... After that, even though I have been to ct many times, I have not visited the penguins

RE: Christmas Town 2012 Rumors

The penguin thing was pretty disappointing this year. It seemed like they took a step backward. The first year was obviously horrible, but I thought last year's display was well done. They had the rustic log cabin setting with the owls, then the giant rabbits, then the penguins in the snow tanks, then the water tank at the end. This year they just had to two tanks at the entrance, then a long path of nothing until the water tanks. I thought it was way better last year.

I don't even know where to start with the Polar Pathway...:dodgy:

RE: Christmas Town 2012 Rumors

Polar Pathway needs something, you can't just dress up a building in lights and add a few fake polar bears to make it an attraction. Even if it were a walk-thru photo opportunity, like a haunted house but you are able to stop take pics, move on, and all Christmas-like. That would really make it.

RE: Christmas Town 2012 Rumors

Two big things bothered me about Polar Pathway:

1) The worst thing is that they set up as series of "photo ops" smack in the middle of a walkway that already gets extremely tight on crowded days. It was just insane to walk through there sometimes. You had people posing for pictures, while the person taking the photo blocked the path, then stood there waiting for people to stop walking in front of him... absolute cluster. In addition to the line that would build up for the "Shivers" photos AND the people playing the pick a present game, which was positioned right on the path. I mean, who thought that this stuff up?

The solution would be to open the queue line as a separate path and move all those polar bear props and photo op stuff over there. Build a temporary bridge over the canal so people could exit out of the normal Pompeii exit and put the Shivers and game thing over there (the adventure photo processing booth is already in place, duh).

This way, people who want to take their time, do photos and other extras have the space to do so, and the people that want to use the "pathway" as an actual pathway can do so.

2) They seemed to be unsure as to what exactly they wanted it to be. It was part "beautiful light spectacle" and part tacky winter display. If they wanted to do the cartoon bears and blow up Santa, they should have just gone all the way and done a synchronized light show or had animated polar bears sliding down the Pompeii chutes with animated water splashing up or something. If they wanted it to be a little "classier" then they should tone it down, get rid of the cartoon props and put a little more effort into creating an artistic statement with the look.

What they did seemed like a mash up of the two concepts. There's a war on Christmas ya know. Pick a side! :p

RE: Christmas Town 2012 Rumors

Well my issues with Polar Pathway goes as follows:

1) Photo Opportunities - If you are going to provide a backdrop for people to take pictures of, at least make sure you have the space to do it. I understand it got crowded, in fact it was so crowded people were starting to walk through the service animal relief area, which is not good because they ruin the grass that is there, and makes the park look trashy, to me.

2) Shivers/Pick-a-Present - The idea was place it off to the side of the main path where people will actually see it. I think it was positioned all right and fine, but the crowds for the two could be managed better.

3) Attraction - This is my biggest concern. If you call it an attraction, make it one. Don't put up bunch of lights on the outside of a building. That is like calling the France rooftop that said Noel an attraction. My point is, make it more attraction like by creating a queue, a proper entrance and exit. Heck, I don't care if you have a bunch of robotic polar bears or just still ones sitting inside Pompeii like the penguins. Just add more to it. Like I said, have a queue, Pompeii's is a good start, then have an entrance into this wonderland of dynamic lights set up with other decorations with a wide path that will allow for plenty of photo opportunities than offered now, and then have people exit properly. I am sure they can pack up Deadline like Catacombs and then decorate it for Christmas, it can't be that hard.

4) Santa - I understand he is supposed to be at the North Pole, and the Polar Pathway is supposed to represent the polar ice caps close to the North Pole, but honestly, he is so unfitting in the area. This is supposed to be a light display, not a fake hollow manikin display, or is it?

RE: Christmas Town 2012 Rumors

Polar Pathway-

I did think Busch did an amazing job the lights part of it, just not the attraction side of it.

1. Take away Santa. Let's get real. He is missed placed and looks tacky where he is.
2. Use the inside of Pompeii an area that is a walk through like the penguins but polar bears, I don't care if they are real or not!
3. I like shivers photos, just not where it's placed..
4. Decorate the side of Pompeii facing England, it looks stupid just have the front lit up. I understand the Italy side wouldn't be lit because it's facing the woods but you can put lights on the england side because it's right beside the pathway.

Flight of Lights -

They can use Germany as the station and use the ramps going down towards the Rhine river as the queue. They won't get rid of it because that's a big reason people buy the quick queue for christmas town besides shows.

Also please bring back the new years eve fireworks.

RE: Christmas Town 2012 Rumors

So no new show for 2012?

What will be the difference between this and last year?

RE: Christmas Town 2012 Rumors

May I be the first to announce the biggest news for Christmas Town 2012, from what a birdie tweeted, Festa Italia WILL be open for Christmas Town this year. It will be included with the rest of the park's Christmas event with Christmas lights and decor all around! Does this mean Roman Rapids could see the same treatment as Pompeii? or as Le Scoot?

That is my point, with Festa open, will Roman Rapids be "covered up" or will it become an attraction like Pompeii?

RE: Christmas Town 2012 Rumors

I don't think they would do that because it's flat. Unless they open Apollo, it would look super cool from up there but that's about it.

My thoughts exactly, Roman Rapids isn't by a major pathway like Pompeii is. There are only 3 places you can actually see Roman Rapids from: Apollo's, by the side of the resturaunt, and Roman Rapid's entrance. Other than those three spots you're not going to see it.
