Right now, the park has the hours for the 31st as 3pm to 10pm, so we'll see what (if anything) happens for New Years.

You would think they would have a new years celebration..... Information comes out next month!:) Howl O Screams should be coming out anytime now according to there website.. I think they should have ice skating over towards the ice palace. They have these large refrigerated ice skating rinks that could perfectly fit in an ice theme... I think some people should email BGW and tell them to..!

There are no plans for any New Years celebrations. (I heard *cough*) that the park had gotten so many requests last year to be open past Christmas that this year, it was extended straight through New Years Eve. It would also serve as a "Second chance" for many people who otherwise thought pre-Christmas would be too crowded for them - the post holiday rush would be much less a frenzy...

... in theory. :D

I went back and reread this post and wanted to clarify it a little bit. As of right now, there are no current plans for any type of NYE celebration. It's just another operating day that willl close early enough for the employees working to get home in time for the ball drop. That's not to say things won't change, but right now there are literally no plans at all for anything past 10pm. (Sorry!)

Well, if the park closes at 10pm - I very seriously doubt any of the employees could get to enjoy any New Years Celebration to be honest. Let's face it, people do not leave when the bell tolls and there is close up shop work; cash registers to be counted; food to be cleaned up and stored; trash to be removed.

Having employees work on New Years is nothing new. I have done my fair share of working on holidays like this - believe you me! However, I always got paid time and a half. In today's economy, I am sure there would be employees who would rather have extra cash than sitting to watch a ball drop for the umpteenth time.

 IDEA ALERT- just came to me: If BGW really wanted to capitalize on New Years, have a celebration around the countries. Since all of Europe is ahead in hours.. like right now as of this post London is about 8:40-ish PM.. which would mean they would celebrate New Years I am guess abound 8pm our time... make sense? It would be 7pm our time for France.. 6pm Germany.. although Italy would be about the same as Germany according to the world clock.. But the park could have a big bell ring and some mini celebration in each country... awesome.

Hmmmm... I think I will has out this plan further and do some research... then what else.. write another suggestion letter to the park. I would be willing to forgo a great celebration for the sake of the employees if there was something else special the park would offer. ;) Not to mention, an end of the year blow-out sale on merchandise.

Just remember- you heard it first here with me! I love it when my brain hatches another plan of action. Muah ha ha ha.

The "close early enough for employees sake" was more tongue-in-cheek then actual reasoning. ;) But I think you should definitely write that int to the park. It's not too late to plan for 2011's festivities just yet. ;)

Ha! I love that "early enough"... I'll have to remember that phrasing when I find myself working through a holiday. Thanks for the chuckle!

I will... I am already plotting a whole concept with "cost effective and low key" ideas as we speak. ;) Always think budget with any idea... otherwise you will never see anything done at all! As the saying goes.. "money talks".

Christmas Town Dash Information-

On July 2, 2010 Busch Gardens announced The Christmas Town Dash! This 8K run will take place on December 5, 2010 at 8:30am.

Here are some Q&A.

1. Q) Where will the run start?
    A) The Parking Entrance Pavilion

2. Q) How will 2,000 people be able to run all at the same time?
    A) The starting line for the race will be at the parking entrance pavilion, an area ten car-lanes wide. KWe are researching weather we will need wave starts, and are prepared to do so if required. There will certainly be grouping of faster runners nearer the front. Even in a mass start, however, the individual chip-timing system ensures accurate timing of each runners run.

3. Q) Why is the registration cost so high at $40 and what does it go to?
    A) The registration fee will include running in the race, a professional runner's technical shirt, awesome custom medals for the age group leaders, and a portion of the fee will go to support Toys for Tots.

4. Q) Can I bring old toys for the children at the Toys For Tots?
    A) Yes you will have the opportunity to bring toys to the event and donate directly to the organization.

5. Q) How many people will attend the dash?
    A) This run is an 8K, and it goes right through Christmas Town in Busch Gardens! Plus, this event will have a much higher level of excitement. Expect a big show... there will be more than 2300 people present!

6. Q) Will spectators be allowed along the course?
    A) Spectators will certainly be allowed at the Start / Finish line area, and we are working on a way to have them also in the park along the course... or at certain points; but that has not been confirmed yet with Busch Gardens. As soon as we know about that, we will make it very public.

Thanks for posting. Hadn't heard anything about this before.

Crowd control will be very interesting...

Can we make it the front page post? Like what I posted just copy and paste it to the home screen for the site? I would like that:)

Also the 8K run runs right smack through the heart of Christmas Town... England, France, Germany, Italy... the whole thing (Even parts of Busch Gardens that aren't a part of Christmas Town!) Professional media members will need to contact Flat-Out events if they want access to the park to cover the race. Spectators will be at certain points on the course... still to be determined.

I love this idea. Especially if they aren't going to stay open till midnight to celebrate our new year.

Hey, JUST IN... Christmas Town information will NOT be released in July do to the late release of the Howl O Scream information. I really wish they would just give it all to us already! Why do you tink there taking so long??!!

They have to put everything together and finalize it all. Just be patient. Good things come to those who wait.

Looks like the Christmastown website is up. http://www.christmastown.com BG just announced it via Twitter. I have to say, I'm surprised/disappointed that Italy is once again blacked-out, unless they're planning on announcing/unveiling something later.

It doesn't mention the train ride, but it shows it on the map. I hope it's returning. My 80 Year old mother liked that last year and is looking forward to doing it again.

Can anyone tell any differences from last year? Looks exactly the same. Wonder if pass holders will still get 50% off?

The site itself looks different, but the rides/food/attractions all look the same. As far as tickets, if you log-in to the passmember section on the BGW website, you can still get your half-price tickets, or a discounted 3-day ticket. I lucked out and got a free ticket for this year when I upgraded from a 2-park/2-year pass to a platinum.

i think they just have the site up right now to start promoting the event. because nothing is new
