How is USA today even doing these awards given the nature of this year? I mean shouldn't a show need to have at least one show run to be considered?

USA Today doesn't give a single fuck. They have ad revenue to harvest from these gullible parks' loyal fans! Plus, after the Halloween event poll from 2019 (?) the bar has already been set—you're eligible regardless of whether or not your attraction actually exists! As long as someone is willing to click a USA Today link, that's good enough for them!

Celtic Fyre is nominated yet again as best theme park entertainment in the USA today awards poll. Let's share and try and get the show the Number 1 spot again which would be the third year in a row.

i tried to vote but got a "looks like you already voted today" answer. It was my first visit to the site.

Got a twitter link to USA today for the best amusement park and BGW is one of the parks. They actually let me vote and we are 5 of 20. Still can't get to the Celtic Fyre catagory to vote.

Here is the link to vote for Celtic Fyre. They are currently number 1.

Only a few more days left to vote. Please share and vote and let's all show our appreciation.

Vote and share for our favorite theme park live entertainment. Celtic Fyre at Busch Gardens Williamsburg. We look forward to the return of this show.

The former theatre person in me considers this sacrilege. The stage is a sacred space, dammit!

Probably doesn’t apply when the theater is otherwise dark, though. Sigh, fine.

I overheard an employee today state that Celtic Fyre has already been cancelled for this year. Has anyone else heard any such rumors or maybe it is a fact. Sad if it is true.
I haven't but it wouldn't surprise especially given that many of the performers come from Ireland and we all know how hard international travel is at the moment. Add that to the fact that it's probably one of the more expensive shows to run and the uncertainty of when or even if in door theaters will be permitted and it seems like it's more likely then not that it will be canceled.

Yeah like @horsesboy said. A lot of those performers come from Ireland to work here. It seems unlikely that they'd be able to come here at any point this year.

I would expect it to be back in 2022 provided international travel is available.

I said a few months ago to expect DEEP entertainment cuts for the foreseeable future. I fully expect Celtic Fyre to be one of the victims of those cuts. Even ignoring cast travel logistics for a moment, there are a million other reasons to cut Celtic Fyre for 2021—cast safety, guest safety, financial priorities, attendance expectations, etc.

I‘d be shocked to see any notable theater productions return to BGW before this fall at the absolute earliest—and even that is pretty optimistic on my part.

If they could figure out a way to allow for indoor shows, even without the cast, could we possibly see this theater in use?
