Yes. Those monitors could be used for something along the lines of what Nora has suggested before...History, facts, interesting things about the ride and its immediate area.. Shouldn't be too difficult, or expensive, to put together. :)

I'd prefer that they simply go back to giving the ride's theme, story, etc. to be honest. There's nothing I hate more than standing in a line while having advertising shoved at me both audibly and visually. It's a horrendously Six Flags-like thing to do and it makes me ill every time I see it.

Believe me, they don't spend a lot of money producing those videos. Most of them use themes from iMovie.

Last I checked Griffon still airs the opening year commercial and Loch Ness still has their stats/history playing. Not sure if Alpengeist or Apollo still have theirs. Verbolten has the TVs in Gerta's office and the audio in the back office to give a story.

I don't ride the other coasters, and I move through the Nessie lines so fast I honestly have never noticed. I suppose next time I will stop and smell the roses...i.e. watch the LNM video. ;)

You don't ride the other coasters?

- We better change that this weekend.
This makes so much sense now. You didn't know did you? Yes, I am a big 6'5" guy and am working towards riding more coasters than just Nessie. Even with some weight loss I will still have some problems with height and extraordinarily broad shoulders. :)

THIS... is true. I do take the hill on occasion going from Nessie to Dragon Land with my baby. Perhaps making it a point to walk that route for 30-60 minutes a visit would work wonders. You might hear an emergency call go out, though. Takes a lot of hands to lift a big boy like me onto a stretcher. The medics would have a heart attack carrying me up that hill. lol

But no matter how much weight I lose, I still have a large frame. Some things are just going to be out of reach for me.

Now that I think about it, I guess this is one good reason that Celtic Dyne is gone now.

We reserved Celtic Dyne a month ago and they cancelled a week ago and let us know it was cancelled for the rest of the season. They did make it right though and we got to meet the dancers, so in the end it worked out for us.

It was still being advertised on the train but I assume they just didn't update the prerecorded spiel yet...they probably only do that a few times a year.

I commented to my wife how weird it was we were hearing irish music in line for apollo's chariot until I realized they were showing a promo for celtic fyre. Actually I much prefer the irish music to the normal music they play (toddlers throwing wind chimes around)

Thanks for the confirmation Phareous. With both Bistro 205 and Celtic Dyne gone, there's really not a single premium dining experience in the park aside from Elmo. Quite a shame.

Yeah I don't know why they got rid of it. They kind of mumbled something about not enough interest, but that doesn't make sense to me since the season has just begun and they might have easily sold out in June/July/August. I guess it is probably more about budget issues as stated earlier in the thread.

Since we had reserved so long ago they did give us a private meet-and-greet and reserved us a seat at one of the tables that meets the stage, plus free food vouchers. I also had 3 or 4 people call me the day of while I was in the park to make sure it was all taken care of. And on top of that, they refunded our money for the reservation. So I must say I am very impressed with the way they handled things (and how they handled a few other problems we had while there). We live near Carowinds and don't get that kind of service there. Luckily it wasn't too busy this weekend so we got to sit on the front bench on two other shows and talk to the dancers on the way out both times. We loved Emerald Beat but I think Celtic Fyre is pretty nice too

The only reason I never signed up for Celtic Dine is that I could hardly eat anything on the menu! Buffets and wheat allergies do not mix. I would hate spending money for something I REALLY wanted to see, but couldn't partake in enjoying the majority of the menu items.

At Disney they have food made to order. Again with the PR- marketing on these type of special experiences. If you pay more for something- you need to get more.

At Disney- the chef came out and went over the menu with me.. they even custom made food to my specifications.

If Castle O' Sullivan was to be a real theater sit-down pay for the experience restaurant... it needs to be just that. Not a buffet.

Even if you didn't want "fine dining" you could still do a "cinema Cafe" type deal where you paid for a ticket and then paid separately for menu items and beverages.

Mostly the reason it's not a full service restaurant is that there is no space for a kitchen. A buffet style food can be brought over from elsewhere in the park and then just heated up, which takes barely any room. If they wanted to turn it into a full service restaurant it would take a major renovation to the building, or they could just add it on to the back (backstage side) and put a full kitchen there :)

Yes. I know this. However, I also wanted to state my reasons why a buffet didn't work for me and thus lost my business at the establishment is all. Had I been able to choose my menu items (even if it was from Grogan's Grille)- at least I would get my money's worth.

Still, if it were to work as a dinner-show deal, having a real operating on-site kitchen is paramount. Just like I was saying about Bistro 205 in another post.

Kinda like the Yak and Yeti restaurant in Animal Kingdom. It is run by Landry's Inc. Something like that would be a great at the park.

Oh and to go back to my quip about "cinema cafe"- I was actually saying that could have worked even without an "on-site" kitchen. You purchase your ticket and select your "items" at an additional fee. That way if I wanted to go to Celtic Dine and just have popcorn and a drink, I could do so and not have to purchase an entire buffet meal.

(That I couldn't even eat anyway.)

Would it make sense to perhaps contract the cooking work to a 3rd party & let THEM cart it into the area instead of having to add extra staff, build a kitchen, buy new equipment, etc etc etc.....And THEN things like Celtic Dyne & Bistro 205 would have worked?

Things that make you go hmmmmmm......
