Truly remarkably stupid.
Well said😂 What an unbelievable blunder indeed. More impressed than anything that they're doing a 420ft spike. I kinda lowered my hopes and was expecting something in the 300's, so that's nice.

Also agree with you on the Top Thrill 2 name, I doubt Zampy has the "need to know" on that. Plenty of time after announcement to slap CP Racing/[real ride name] graphics on it.

And lastly, some "final" screenshots of my recreation:

First swing: Approximately halfway up the tower after the first launch

Full overview with train at approximate height. Spike structure accuracy TBD.

And a now-confirmed view of the station/switch/maintenance area

This is lame if true :/ Though I never understood the people that thought the new spike would be like 100 feet taller than the top hat, the train would have had to be slowed down prior to the top hat if you were shooting high up the spike.

1 - Should have just old yellered the ride if this was the “big redoing”. A boring ride layout got more boring somehow.*

2 - Who would have put money on SF version lasting longer?

3 - I do fear for CP/CF in the coming years since it seems the major players in the coaster market don’t want to deal with them. Either we’re in for underwhelming additions or experimental coasters.

The ride was stupidly simplistic and people loved it because it was awesome. It will now be slightly less simplistic and still awesome and looks like everyone will complain it's a big let down.

Adding a guaranteed rollback is "more boring"?
Ka also opened later :p
And outside of Intamin, who are you talking about? Because by all accounts they still have good partnerships with B&M, GCI, Gravity Group and Mack, who are among the top players in the industry.

It's not boring if everyone loves it.

What makes you say this? The only ones they're not working with are Intamin and RMC. Everything else is on the table.

I’m personally not a fan of swing launches. Especially if they are designed to go through a single element. I think TTD and KD were both boring layouts that are one trick ponies.

And as noted up thread here (multiple times) Intamin and RMC aren’t the only manufacturers that take issue with CF. They have a reputation within the industry of doing their own thing when it comes to maintenance.

Because it lost the part in the stupidly simplistic that made it “awesome” which was the high speed. Those leaked stats are kinda….underwhelming IMO.

Again just my opinion but if you had the chance to do something with it they could have at least made it into a bigger badder Xcelerator.

CP was kind of trapped with dragster. If they take it down, it has a very real impact on their park’s brand. OTOH there really isn’t anything you can realistically replace it with that isn’t perceived as a downgrade. This is probably the most thread the needle solution they could do, and for general brand and marketing purposes may just work (if the ride actually works right).

I must be in the extreme minority here, but I like the name. It's a sequel to the original and lets the GP know that. Also, it's the least important part on any ride.

The original Dragster could only do 60 dispatches per hour. Assuming they can do a shorter dispatch (my personal guess is closer to 40 seconds) we should see a somewhat noticeable increase in riders per hour.
I don't think a shorter dispatch is going to make up for the additional time it takes for the train to clear the top hat every single time.
