RE: BGW's Social Media

Here is something interesting:

Just wanted to take a moment and say I was disappointed yesterday in the some of the staff at BGW. When we arrived at the park, we went inside of the bathroom in England and there stood an employee (whether it was her break or not is neither here nor there) playing on her cell phone and checking herself out in the mirror. Don't they have some place that employees should go for break so they don't appear to be working but not working? Second, on our way out of the park, one of the young ladies taking pictures was looking at my children with a look of disgust because, being kids, they were playing with a squirrel that had crossed their path. She actually looked at her co-worker and said "Some people are so stupid." Then proceeded to give them yet another dirty look. I sincerely hope that BGW will consider taking some needed additional time with their employees and teach them that as an employee they're representing the company. Their bad attitudes and seemingly lazy behavior reflect negatively on BGW and serve to lessen the otherwise happy experience for families.

I am going to play over protective park defender here and say 1) Maybe there aren't employee break areas, how would you know, a bathroom is a bathroom you would probably see the same at your local fast food place. Who cares? 2) I'm sure that photo TM was not talking about your kids. There are plenty of other stupid people in the park, sorry if you felt like your kids fit the bill.

Now to play the responsible part: 1) Yes there are break areas and that should be noted that team members aren't allowed to use their personal electronics while not in a backstage area. 2) If the the photo TM really did act in such a way, yes that is inappropriate; however they may not have been talking about you but about something completely non-related to your children.

What do you guys think?

RE: BGW's Social Media

At first when I read this I thought, "I totally agree, they should be more professional." Then I started to think a bit more about it. A large percentage of park employees are very young and BGW may be their first job. I don't know about y'all, but I seriously doubt I was a model employee, when I was a dance counselor at a camp, when I was still in college. If we accept the premise that everyone must make allowances for kids being kids in the park, shouldn't we also give the very young park employees a similar amount of latitude as they learn to navigate the complex social and professional dynamics in the work place? I think their situation is probably even more difficult, because they are working with a lot of other people around their same age, with a similar lack of experience.

On another note, I would be hesitant to blame the park itself too much. Yes, they represent the organization, but as a supervisor, I can tell you that managing people is like herding cats. I can barely get my employees to do their paperwork properly to get paid, and I write their appraisals. I have complete power over their ability to get raises and bonuses etc. Yet, fully-trained, professional adults still run amok at work, and there is little I seem to be able to do to stop it completely. Heck *I* run amok from time to time.

Just a different perspective. The customer may always be right, but the organization is made up of individuals, not robots (or Cybermen), and I think everyone needs to be tolerant of each other.

RE: BGW's Social Media

I'm pretty sure most places don't allow their employees use cell phones out in public eye while in uniform. It makes them look lazy and uncaring about their jobs. That being said, there's nothing wrong with freshening up in a mirror.

The second statement about rude comments sounds like a case of either taking something out of context or the person with the camera not thinking before they speak.

RE: BGW's Social Media

Ever since Nora left, the employee professionalism has just gone downhill...kidding.:D

Doctor Who references always deserve extra respect!

RE: BGW's Social Media

Aww man, England is just asking for a Doctor Who house. That would be amazing. I wonder how much it would take to get the IP for the house... (Cybermen, Daleks, OMG ANGELS!!!) In fact, let's just hope they put up weeping angels all over england.

RE: BGW's Social Media

The Silence would be cool. And the Ood and Clockwork Droids...Doctor Who has so many amazing monsters.

Actually, they should re-theme England as Cardiff for HOS and include Torchwood too. A rift in time and space is running through BGW, and all sorts of aliens keep washing up. Weevils and Fairies, oh my!

I don't know if I would be able to get into the park, if I were confronted by Angels at the entrance.

We seem to be way off topic here...

RE: BGW's Social Media

Here is the latest on the park's social media. It turns out the park has started to answer questions and respond to people! And it is as if they are going through every post and answering almost everyone. But something seems odd. Perhaps they just hired a new person to handle the pages? Take a look at this response:

Busch Gardens said:
Thank you for bringing this to our attention, Nicole. I have spoken with a team member in Merchandise and she will be getting in contact with the contractor about this order.

I noticed how they used the word, "I" and how causal their tone of writing is. This definitely doesn't seem to be a scripted response at all, in fact it is as if they just happened to walk by someone, fix the situation and inform the guest about it. It seems more personal.

I can only hope this is a sign that their social media is going to be improving greatly, just in time for Howl-o-Scream complaints!

RE: BGW's Social Media

^ That sounds like a good thing. When some people write on the page, they act as if they're talking to the managers themselves. I think this could be a good way to tell people that the park cares.

"Thank you for bringing this to our attention, Angie. I am sorry you had to buy your two-year-old new pants after taking him through Deadline..."

RE: BGW's Social Media

"Thank you for bringing this to our attention, Holly. I'm sorry that your 4-year-old son got scared and was crying during our Howl-O-Scream event. Please note that Howl-O-Scream isn't appropriate for young children. Parents are highly advised to use their better judgement if they have young children with them during Howl-O-Scream. We hope to you again soon!!"

I would like to see this kind of response when HOS starts.

RE: BGW's Social Media

My family is highly disappointed that Jack will not be returning for Howl O'Scream. We were told last year that they had so any complaints about it that he might come back. For us, it is not Halloween without Busch Gardens and Jack's party. My daughter loved Jack and the Monster Mash but those were the only 2 things that are there for her as far as Halloween except some of the decorations. We will be canceling our season passes. Thanks alot BG!.

Busch Gardens *should* respond - Hello, we are very sorry that you missed an old event icon, but times change and we can't always bring back the stuff only a portion of the people like. Sex sells and naughty nurses in Ireland make much more sense that a cartoon Jack.

Bro. Jack had gone hill tremendously over the years. His time was up. It used to be cool to have him around, but it just got super kiddy and all it did was clog up ireland. Along with indirectly promoting more families to bring their kids to HOS. So yes, Sex sells. As does booze. I'm glad to see more of it, cause at the end of the day HOS is still adult oriented.

I'm sorry you wont be able to get your Top 20's music mix though, I know KK hleped you get your fix.

If you're cancelling your pass over that, then I'm sure BGW doesn't want your loyalty anyways. There are plenty of other things to be mad at them for, things that are much worse than the loss of a pumpkin headed cartoon man.

RE: BGW's Social Media

I was personally thinking "Little Zach," not sure why. :p
