I was just saying that I wasn't sure why BGW hasn't responded to guest questions. Their no response has upset alot of guests who post on the page.

it would be so helpful if, instead of limiting park openings to fri-sun, you might consider adding thursday as well??? there are many, many families and homeschool groups who love to go to the park during the week and cannot go on sundays....

I saw your last quote on the page last night. Do they really shut down the trams during a storm like yesterday? Is that really any more/less safe than what the poster described? I guess I understand...smh.

They do. I was there in a big lightning storm downpour last summer. First, they close all the rides. Then, they play an ominous warning that warns guests to seek shelter ecause a storm is approaching, and that the tram service is suspended until the storm passes. I ran to my car in the rain, though I could have just stayed until it passed. At closing time, I guess you are kinda stuck with it.

I was there last night, and the trams were shut down as well as all outdoor rides and shows. For anyone who's wondering, it was raining from 5:52 PM to 6:19 PM and then from 7:30 onward. I wouldn't describe navigating parking lots on foot as "ridiculous" as there's a marked pedestrian crosswalk from France to Germany and I found a mulch path over the mound that leads to Italy, where my car was. I usually prefer to wait it out but it was getting severe, rain was coming down in sheets and winds tore the bark off some of the trees in San Marco.

If I were there during the storm, I would have went into a restaurant or store til the storm calmed down since the trams were shutdown. Nobody told the lady that she had to go to run to her car in the rain.

We drove down to the park yesterday afternoon thinking we might see the fireworks. We often go when the weather is less than perfect, lower crowds are the main reason. Strolling around the park during a light rain with less company is a joy.
Does the park resume the trams after the storm?? There were several families running about the lots heading to their cars during the storm. We also noticed the lights were off in the preferred lot last night, of course the lightning did light it up from time to time.
Personally I would have just waited till the storm was over to head home..

The trams still run after the park is closed. If I recall, an hour or more. Not sure. I would assume until the last security sweep and the park is clear.
If she had waited and headed the warning of the severe weather alert that was announced through the park, she could have avoided the chaos she chose to engage in.
The trams run on propane (two on diesel). I would think running around with propane and diesel is not a great idea when lightening is all around.
People complain all the time about them doing the wrong thing. However, the one thing the park could do is announce the "trams" being shut down temporarily due to the weather. Then when all is clear they could announce trams have resumed normal operation.

The park has their own sign slightly offset from the road back a bit by the Employee Entrance, other than that ugly brown box signs.
This may be true, I'm sure, but the Interactive Marketing Manager is still the same guy that was there for at least four years now.
TRAMS & PARKING DURING SEVERE WEATHER:
Trams will shut down during severe weather once the park reaches Code Red indicating lightning is within 5 miles of the park. Trams are shut down because those trams attract lighting like a lightning rod. It is an extreme safety hazard. Going on, all guests are prohibited from ever walking along the tram road, unfortunately the park is smart to keep their team members safe so there is no one to stop guests from running all over the place. Please keep in mind that the park does not authorize guests to walk along the tram road at any time because the trams can start operation at any moment. Think of it like walking along the train tracks, sure the train could be closed, but it could start up at any time and sneak up behind you and run you over.
Now to address the Facebook post in question, it is absolutely insane to go out into any storm for any reason. If team members are forced to seek shelter or lose their jobs for disobeying safety standards, you best be seeking shelter. However there are the few who seem to think they are invincible and can walk through a storm without any chance of getting injured. Seeking shelter is the park's only plan.
With that said, there is a painted sidewalk/pathway leading through the France parking lot, across the entry/exit road, allowing you to access the pathway that leads straight across the Germany, Italy, and Ireland parking lots. SO if you must walk your way out, do so this way as it is the only officially safe way.
I'd post a satellite image, edited showing the path I described but I am tired especially going through 500+ posts at 3AM, so maybe later.

PR, I think you misinterpreted what I was saying. The ugly exit signs that were being referred to in the post were the ones on Interstate 64, not route 60. My point was the park was located off Route 60 and set far away from the Interstate- so much so that signage from the general vicinity of the park (Like King's Dominion's gigantic sign) would be useless. The park would have to purchase land near the interstate or perhaps rent a billboard on the Interstate. However, if you notice when you are driving though I-64 towards Williamsburg and James City County.. Billboards disappear. All there are is typical brown road signs that say "Jamestown, Colonial Williamsburg, Busch Gardens, etc.. exit whatever).

I can say that on Sunday, all the team members that were in with us at Dine with Elmo and Friends were very concerned for the safety of all in there. It was so strict, that we couldn't just run across to the bathroom to change a diaper!! I had to go up in the back, away from others, to change my son. The park does have everyone's safety at heart IMO. I mean the first storm Sunday was SO bad that you could hear the thunder OVER the Sesame Street gang singing! They wouldn't even let my boyfriend look out to see how bad it was. At that time, we were in code Purple. I do think, that on the maps and around the park, they should have weather codes posted somewhere so that they could just say weather code (color) and then the guests will know exactly HOW bad it is and so forth. All in all... after trucking in the heat saturday and most of the day sunday, that rain felt WONDERFUL!

Can't the park just cut ties with the thing. I hate the flooding of posts that this brings. Or at least modify the promo or whatever is getting people to post so frequently the same thing over and over again.
