RE: BGW's Facebook Page

Another complaint about the Italian wine photo op disappearing. To be honest, yes it is memorable and beloved things in the park but honestly, there is so muh to love something has to go if your ever going to bring in something new, even if it is for a glow stand. Kids and families love the bubbles and blacklighta that have been added and it provides it's own photo op.

Even though it's temporary, it's going to ruin the park like the sundial.

Sure, this person is a local, and they'll return.... but consider this:

There are families who travel to the same place every summer and take the same photo each year for their photo album, be it near a statue in some coastal town or in front of a structure in a theme park. I have no doubt there are families out there that could possibly use that area to document the lives of their kids. I'd be disappointed, too. Not everyone that visits is local.

I like the black lights and bubbles :p but really it just looks flashy because that's how glow sells. You can't blame it for looking like that. Except the fire flies they are ridiculous.

Apparently the park added a time lapse video of the riding the train, looks like they just learned how to do time lapse and want to do that with everything now or it's a fad.

I mean, that is true. The stand is newer than the sundial, so it is more horrible. In five years when the sundial is removed, it will be "classic".

RE: BGW's Facebook Page

Well, duh. But until then, we must hate it like we hate all change.

Exactly - we only hate it because it is new, and not because it is tacky or unthemed. Through the condescension you hold so tightly to, you have hit the nail on the head.

I wish we'd all calm down... this "stand" is clearly only a temporary structure for Illuminights... I'm almost 98.37% sure that the Grape Buckets will return.

I couldn't give two craps about the buckets, to be honest - I just don't appreciate the assumption that if something is disliked, it's just because it's new.

Thank you for understanding my point. I know it's hard to enjoy the park with something like a single light stand off to the side, but once it's gone in say September, you'll hardly notice it was ever there.

RE: BGW's Facebook Page

Look,

Everybody has their own ideas about what makes the park "the park", and everybody rates those ideas according to their own priority list. For some of us, the little things and the atmospheric elements are pretty near to the top of that list. For some of us, they're somewhere closer to the middle, or even the bottom. Regardless of what we think about these things, it is bad form all around to talk down to people and dismiss their concerns. We've been over this so many times already.

It has been well demonstrated that Haberdasher is not against change for the sake of being against change, and it's neither fair nor helpful to accuse him of such. He doesn't like the glow stand because it doesn't fit with what he thinks makes the park "the park." There's no reason to assign any other motive.

My three cents on the issue is that I see people taking family photos on that grape thing fairly often, and think it was probably not the best decision to switch it out for a kiosk peddling rave wares. HOWEVER, I also know that (unlike the sundial) it's temp for Illuminights and sometimes, things like that can be okay in small doses. I'll reserve full judgement until I've seen it for myself.

RE: BGW's Facebook Page

If I can finish my input on it, I think the stand is not too bad because I've seen people take as many pictures with the stand as a background as if it was a regular photo op. Families love the bubbles it produces and the black light effects intrigue children and teens. Both provide their own photo opportunities which in my eyes makes them okay and I think I will miss it, because it certainly is something else.

RE: BGW's Facebook Page

It's becoming harder and harder to believe the people here don't like things simply because it's new to be very honest. Especially when I see conspiracy theories, but I'm a diluted fool who's just in it for the rides.

RE: BGW's Facebook Page

I've noticed most new things go through extreme harsh criticism and it could be because we're not used to it, it really sucks that much, or we are being over critical and we get used to it and learn to deal with it. I can't vouch for anyone because I don't know everyone's thought process nor can I comprehend every idea and opinion in the world. I can understand how a person feels by how I feel about my opinion and that is how I look at things. I don't judge and I do like to hear everyone's opinions. But I do believe for a site with the word fans in it we degrade the park more than we should.

Is there another thread this conversation can continue? I feel we are gettin off topic.
