Why is everyone on Busch Gardens' facebook always so (agree)*angry. Is that normal for other parks?

In all seriousness, yeah, it's pretty common of any business to be honest. Many people are only motivated to speak if they are impassioned about something. Unfortunately, most of the time, that means they're angry, not swooning. Just the nature of the beast I believe.

I think this gif sums up most people on the interwebs these days. They are smiling and happy in person but a ranting angry tyrant on line because of the anonymous nature of the beast.

This is me all the time until i get at least two cups of coffee in me. lol

First of all. I am “coaster_square”. That post was an inside joke about something that happened on Canada’s Wonderland instagram. It was supposed to be taken as a joke. The story is that there was a huge argument that occurred in the comment section of a job fair post by CW. It reached over 1000 comments which caused CW to delete the post. I didn’t want it deleted because of the content of the post. I love Busch just as much as you guys. Didn’t know that post would be taken with such backlash.

Unfortunately the problem with "Inside" jokes on the web is that no one understands them. :-/ And most times inside jokes are funny to normally only the person posting them lol. I think that something like trolling has the potential to go WAYYY wrong reallly fast. I hope that is not something that can come back to the forum here and cause any problems for the administrators here.

Oh ok good, but even if was a joke or wasn’t, isnt everyone entitled to an opinion whether it be negative or positive?
Yes they are entitled to their opinion but also are not others entitled to say that they disagree? Its like the saying goes opinions are like.....
People are entitled to disagree but to argue with someone's opinion (the people who commented thought she looked Fiona) is infringing on their right of opinion. I'm just saying that everyone has a right to an uninfringed opinion.

It continues to surprise (and, I think, impress) me that BGW still allows public posts on their Facebook page. Kings Dominion blocked public posts ages ago, and many other parks have done the same.

I love that the park provides an official platform for guests to converse and share their experiences, but I can't help but question whether the angry and crazy folks hurt the park's image.

I honestly don’t know where to begin; I just hope I have misunderstood your explanation.

First, you seem to be saying that you spammed BGW’s Instagram post about a new ride as some kind of joke.

Second, you seem to think causing that level of disruption to their site is in some way funny. I, personally, believe trolling like that is simply immature.

Finally, I am completely confused by your apparent logic. As I understand your post, you were unhappy that people spammed Canada’s Wonderland Instagram. Based on that, you thought it would be funny to do the same thing to a completely separate park with a wildly different set of guests, as a “joke.” While I know there are people who follow both accounts, the crossover is fairly limited, and it simply isn’t funny anyway.

Who said I was unhappy with what happened with CW’s instagram. As far as I can see, those are made up words. Second of all, a comment section of a post is in noway “disrupting”. I am not placing a barrier in front of them that takes time to brake down. It had no affect on their progress as an account. So that’s false statement numero 2. A good portion of the people in the comment section said the same thing so apparently it is a joke? I’m going to be honest. I’m really confused where you’re coming up with these things.

You should be unhappy that some poor social media manager had to deal with that extra strife during their workday and ultimately had to delete their work to fix the problem.

I think most people would call that "being given the benefit of the doubt." You would have been wise to accept that gesture of goodwill.

You were apparently mirroring your actions on something that was done to Canada's Wonderland which was clearly disrupting and a barrier to the progression of their account. So much so in fact that CW had to take down the post.

You'd do well to admit that this was all an immature mistake and to move on. Right now, each post you've made has just dug yourself into a deeper and deeper hole.

Busch’s account doesn’t get as much attention as CW’s so that would be physically impossible. If busch gets 1000 comments on a post I’ll buy 80 premium passes. It just won’t happen. I’m not going to accept words that have been put into my mouth as a gesture of “goodwill”. The CW Instagram post had a total of about 30 words. As far as I’m concerned a dog without thumbs could type that up. So no, I don’t have remorse. Had a post by BGWFans be taken down, then yes I would have remorse because of the thought and energy you guys put into typing over 2000 words for a single story.

Look. I've long thought that social media marketing is an exercise not totally dissimilar to selling snake oil. That said, no one should ever have to put up with their work—no matter how minor we think it may be—being defaced or destroyed.

Your best course of action is to drop it, don't do it again, and move on. I'm sorry, but this is an argument you can't win. Continuing to defend your actions here will only hurt your reputation.

My response was to your original post, not to the completely new version that is there now. I guess you rewrote it to remove the comments I cited.

I see no edited sign. Nor have I visited this thread in 2 days, so I’m utterly shocked and confused.

Sorry. You are right. The post is the same. Now that I am off my phone, I see what happened.

To respond,

1. “Who said I was unhappy with what happened with CW’s instagram.”

I thought you referring to the CW post when you this. Your pronoun did not have a clear antecedent:

Encouraging people to spam a post is intrinsically disruptive. Your asserting that it isn’t, doesn’t make it untrue. And you have no idea what impact it did have, or could have had, if they hadn’t been notified quickly.

3. ”A good portion of the people in the comment section said the same thing so apparently it is a joke?”

As I said elsewhere, the comments comparing Addie to Fiona are not the point. The call to “ruin the post,” which seems to be part of your “joke,” is certainly not funny. It is aggressive and rude. You called out the spamming as the joke. In fact you didn’t seem to care what people said, as long as they created enough spam to “get them to delete the post.” You said, “comments as many weird things about shrek or something.” That statement combined with this below seems to indicate that the “joke” was the spam.

I'm sorry, but how hard is it for Busch Gardens to fact check the opening dates of their own attractions?!

I read through the whole thread before it was deleted and he was banned from the group. A bunch of people in the community came forward with stories of racism, sexism, and various other forms of intolerance he and his wife have expressed over the years. Apparently he had a long history of sending really disgusting messages to people when he would disagree with them about something regarding the park (as can be seen in the screenshot Luke posted). According to one long-term member of the FB page, he even called a group of African Americans at BGW monkeys. Absolutely disgusting stuff.

For anyone who is wondering why this person matters, this is the guy who got married on Apollo's Chariot back around 2000 and he has often been invited to various VIP events for things like BGW ride openings.

Hate that this sort of toxic behavior is common in the fan community. That's why ai stay away from r/rollercoasters

I’ve noticed this too. I’m not part of many other diehard fan communities like the theme park community. Are other types of fan bases also typically this toxic?
