RE: Brauhaus Craft Bier Room Coming to Festhaus Kaffe in 2016

Just have to say I am a little disappointed that they only have 300 stien I mean 300 for the traffic flow that the park get is patheticly low.

Taps Part 2 (sorry for the double post)

There are 3 more taps to the right of the Hardywood Great Return IPA, I wasn't able to get all 30 to fit in the first picture.

RE: Brauhaus Craft Bier Room Coming to Festhaus Kaffe in 2016

I visited on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week.  Both visits were around lunchtime.  Tuesday was a great day to chat with with other fans.  I met Matt from Busch Dominion.  He was at the park taking photos.  I really want to track down an amazing shot he took of Nessie from Land of the Dragons.  I also met and had lunch with Kristiana from the 40th Anniversary documentary fame.  She has a lot of great stories to share.

I found several new beers to try and enjoyed everything I ordered.  New Holland Dragon's Milk is served in a glass snifter and is a half pour due to the high alcohol content. Even though it is 11% ABV, it is really delicious.  I received a full pour of a 9.5% ABV Commonwealth Cheval De Trait Belgian.  That was a good value for $8 - $9.  On the first day I was greeted by Christina at the register.  She was easy to talk with and since no one else was in line we chatted about the Brauhaus' first few days.  Jim was pouring and gave out some pretty good tips and information to people.  Note they have a tap of Pabst Blue Ribbon.  As of Wednesday only one of those had been purchased.  Not a shocker.

More people were finding the Brauhaus on Wednesday.  At one point the line at the register was out to the entrance.  With only one register this will become a major choke point.

On Tuesday I ordered the cheese board.  They spent a good amount of time preparing it and I heard someone comment it had to look good.  It did look good and I enjoyed it.

For lunch on Wednesday I ordered the Reuben Slider.  It was really one smallish sandwich on toasted bread with a side of homemade, thick-cut chips.  I shared it with a friend and it would have been enough for me alone for lunch. The park probably used the term slider to denote a small portion; the name is sort of misleading.  The sandwich was fairly good and the chips would have been delicious if not covered with a huge amount of salt during plating.

I wonder if the park should rename The Tap Room in Heatherdowns?  Someone looking for the new taproom might be a little disappointed. :p

Looks like they replaced Harpoon UFO Big Squeeze with Starr Hill The Love, maybe another tap exchange or two. I noticed a few of the taps were changed around Wednesday at the park but couldn't figure them out until comparing your picture with the pic I had taken on Pass Member Preview Day.

I heard the new Virginia Beer Company that's opening in York county this weekend will have 4 beers on tap there this weekend.

Also I asked someone there about more steins being sold and they said no. I have no clue if they actually have any insight though, anyone in here heard anything or have sources you can ask?

Of all the crap beers they could have picked from, why PBR? PBR on draft just seems beyond wrong. Might as well be Beast Light.

They were there yesterday and had full pours for 8.49 I believe in Das Festhaus, and were giving out tastings from 12-2pm and 5-7pm this sign attached says. I got in line around 6 and they were "out of tastings" but had these four beers on tap:

Free Verse India Pale Ale
Saving Daylight Citrus Wheat Ale
Wrenish Rye Dry-Hopped Amber Ale
Elbow Patches Oatmeal Stout

The head brewer(s) were also there giving out coasters for drinkware and stuff with a table set up talking with all of the customers and everything.

Will upload the pics in a bit.

Wow. I will have to give them credit - they really do switch out the beers frequently. See below for tap list on 3/27.

Very, very bummed that we couldn't get a stein, though. Also heard that they are not planning on doing anymore this season. We were out of town on PMPD taking care of my sick grandmother, otherwise we would have gotten one. I wish they could do something instead where certain people paid $40 and just got a $5 beer pass - because that would be have been worth it for me alone.

RE: Brauhaus Craft Bier Room Coming in 2016

Has anyone else noticed that the Brauhaus official website keeps listing and then taking down "What's on tap" options? They also had a "What's Next On Tap" section. There is nothing there currently, but I took screenshots the other day to send to my buddy to show what was currently in the park, so I can upload those in a bit to show what I mean.

I've never done a beer flight at BG before (I know they did them during the food and wine festival). In the 4 beer flight, what ounce are the cups? Hoping to get a nice set of 4 delicious brews but want to know how buzzy I can expect to be :)

Going through some old pictures, here's the tap list from March 23rd below. Also have some more recent ones I will post once I have all my media loaded onto my computer. Highly doubt I'll get to try even half of their offerings with how fast the beer is selling/how often they're switching up the taps.

Same.

Didn't hear about the tasting/meet the brewers, got in the Festhaus around 5 or 6 yesterday and tried their [Commonwealth's] "Wapatoolie" Tropical IPA. Pretty good stuff, like Nicole said, super glad they're supporting VA/local breweries.
