if there was a strobe light I sure couldn’t see it. Also many, but not nearly all, have a lit red LEd in the middle of the target - a lot did not have it lit. In this room the LEDs were all out and nothing registered for me.

Oh, and I was in the back row. At the end I had a score, but both my kid and my nephew ended with a score of 0. To be clear here, they are adults, not toddlers. lol.

Yeah, it was in an atrocious state. I'm wondering if this means it might be getting removed. They aren't even trying any more, it seems.

Because of the chain's direction over the last two years, I think I would be shocked if KD didn't get a Snoopy expansion sooner rather than later (either continuation of Planet Snoopy, or a "Camp Snoopy" addition similar to Kings Island). I think a small family coaster is also likely, most likely the same Vekoma family boomerang KI just got.

While there are a number of places a family boomerang (or small family launched coaster) could go, I hope it ends up being near the back half of Dominator (by the corkscrews) by the old Lion Safari/Kingswood entrance and Boo Blasters. So many people even forget that Boo Blasters exists, and this area could use revitalization anyway, and putting a new small coaster in the corner of Planet Snoopy could really draw people back there. That would be the perfect time to fix Boo Blasters or retheme it as a new Charlie Brown dark ride.

Use the expansion to fill in the empty walkway between Dominator and Woodstock too. Add in a few more kiddy flat rides, like a mini Ferris Wheel, and maybe the water battle coming to Carowinds (replace Joe Cool?) and add in a larger family care center, new food venue with kid-friendly food like chicken strips and a playground area like Kings Island, and the whole Snoopy area at KD feels much less disjointed and more evenly distributed.

I finally rode this during opening weekend after three years and I'm disappointed in the state this ride is in. Lights were out in the manor entrance, dining room, and portrait scenes, the final room with Boocifer is still lifeless with no sound and the animatronic silently sitting behind its prop, and most of the ride is still illuminated by those pale, high exposure blacklights. I did notice there's a new UV light in the station, which I think was added last year, that makes things a little dimmer.

Other than that, I was honestly hoping for more from this ride during the park's 50th anniversary. I get the park was working on a lot of other things for this year but it was just sad seeing this ride in a sorry state. Gameplay wise, I saw most of the targets and gags still working but with several things going on at once it was hard to keep track what was and wasn't working. I really wish that someday this ride gets the same upgrades as the one at Carowinds with new targets, scoreboards, and restored effects (and maybe a live load station too), although given how hidden this ride is from the pathways and its currently state, I'm worried it's not even worth it from KD's point of view.

Agreed, but this is exactly why I think planet snoopy’s next family coaster should be put by Boo Blaster/back end of Dominator as opposed to in Joe Cool’d’s plot (even if it means modifying the pavilion’s entrance at Kingswood). It could do a lot to revitalize this corner or Planet Snoopy, and bring more people to a refurbed/rethemed Boo Blasters.

Removing Boo Blasters would be unconscionable to me. Should they fix it? YES. Should they retheme it? Quite possibly. Should its entrance be moved to Jungle X? Maybe. Should something be done to increase traffic to wherever its entrance is? 100%. Should the ride system be relocated into the arcade building and themed around Candy Apple Grove? I can dream.

Losing KD's only darkride is unfathomable to me though. Just wholesale removing it would be a disaster.

Kings Dominion took years to repair elevators inside Eiffel Tower. I don't expect them to do any of the Boo Blasters things you listed, as much as I'd like to see them happen. I think outright removal is more likely than any money being put into it.
I was under the impression that the Eiffel Tower’s extended downtime was due to a supply chain/parts issue — which wouldn’t be surprising as I imagine 1970s-era, 30-story, outdoor elevator equipment is hard to come by.

Also, didn’t Carowinds’ Boo Blasters just get refurbished with new blasters, scorers, and targets? You act like there’s no precedent for “any money being put into it.”

I went to Carowinds in 2009, even back then their spooky blaster ride was superior to the one at Kings Dominion in every way.
Maybe sixteen years ago, the one at Carowinds was in better shape. Before the recent update, the one at Carowinds was in very rough shape, and the scoring system barely worked. Queues are a mater of personal opinion, but I think Kings Dominion has the beats the side yard queue at Carowinds easily. I do prefer the moving station down south though.

Bulldoze the Kings Dominion version. Turn that area into a new hot kiddie corner, featuring a new kids coaster and new flats. The new Snoopy coaster I saw at Knott's is what I'm thinking.
In what ways was the Carowinds version better than KD’s back then? KD has a better setting and outdoor queue, used to have the Mystery Machine out front stuck in the mud and making noise, the station had better, eerie lighting. The ride experience at Carowinds may have been similar to KD’s (there’s no POV of the former to see), but KD’s at the end had that neat score room with Shaggy and Scooby posing in the middle of a wooded forest scene.

Carowinds has a bland outdoor queue, once you get inside you’re immediately in the station which has bland, traditional lighting. In 2010 after the retheme I would’ve preferred the KD ride to Carowinds. It just felt like there was a lot more going on.

Kings Island announced that their version of Boo Blasters will close on September 1st of this year, do we think we can expect Kings Dominion to follow suit?
Well, that version of Boo Blasters uses a ride system that was there since it was Phantom Theater, plus the blasters and targets on that ride are so broken it’s like they don’t exist. Not to mention some of the broken and jittering props too.

As for our version, I don’t know how much longer it has unless it gets the upgrades Carowinds got (which hopefully happens). I assume it’ll be around for a little longer since the blasters and targets still seem to work for the most part.

I still think a Jungle X retheme would be awesome for this ride. I know Jungle X has gotten a lot of attention lately, but Boo Blasters sits in a sort of no-man’s land on the outskirts of Planet Snoopy. I bet a lot of guests never pass the entrance and have no idea it exists. And I bet a handful more assume it’s just a kiddie ride since it’s in Planet Snoopy.

They could put a new entrance in between Tumbili and Reptilian and build a small ramp that connects to the existing queue. The Victorian-esque building facade could easily be rethemed as a 1930s jungle outpost, and the queue, with its lush plant life and water features, lends itself naturally to the jungle theme. I’m sure Sally Corp could help the park develop some great new scenic for the ride that creates a new story within the Jungle X lore.

It would be such a cool way to give this ride new life, give it more foot traffic, and expand its audience to more adult riders.
