Hmmm...maybe then they could at least sell Doctor Who merchandise as it is very 60's! Sorry, big time whovian, and I would love just a photo op with the TARDIS, maybe a character or two. Especially on the anniversaries in the future!

I'm sure if you surf around this thread and forum a bit you will find several of us who have made similar suggestions.
Ain't Nobody got time for tha- ok...thats a lie... Just saying, it would be neat to have even a street performance thing with doctor who characters, especially during christmas town.

I actually wrote a fan script about Doctor Who involving BG, and I had it that a cyborg army was under mach tower, and it was always broke, because the army was absorbing the power, so the ride would always malfunction...

But back to what I was saying, imagine if they could make it more victorian, and have The Victorian trio there for photos?! OMG, Someone said there was a DW thread here? If not, we need to make one!! ALLONS-Y!

Cant we have one thats strictly BG related though, maybe in concepts?

My only hope is that someone up above in the company is letting this happen as a calculated risk only. The sort of deal where if people love it then that's great, but if there is public outcry/ attendance drop then they quickly reverse it and remove those who came up with the idea. This could be one step too far for the current management. I just pray that anything they do is cosmetic and not an irreversible change.

And for the record i hate this idea and think it will be received terribly by most guests. Like Zachary and a few others i also know people who already stopped going as often because the atmosphere has diminished so much.

Just caught up with this news, and had a thought: is this a re-theme intended to give something for the grandparents? Think about it. Who loves 1960s London? Baby boomers who grew up screaming when their mom let them see the Beatles on TV. Those people have grandkids now. They bring them to BGW. There are a lot of coasters they may be unable to ride. There are some shows, but this one is aimed at their glory years, their music. I realize that it will feel wierd to not have the Banbury I've always been at home in, but I can see a logic in the decision. What is there for grandma and grandpa? The '60s! Yeah baby.

I've scrolled through this thread with helpless despondency. I had always found Banbury Cross to be under-utilized and hoped for a change. But not this. When I visited this year to find the Globe closed, I was befuddled, but had enough BGW nostalgia in the tank to convince myself that maybe they were planning on creating something really neat. I really don't like the modern themes being slowly implemented in the park; that's not what it was ever about. It was about immersing yourself in a time - in different cultures - that have passed by many years ago, but for just one day being able to experience even a fraction of it. Now I feel like I can fly to Europe and ride a coaster there and get a similar, if not better experience. The only glimmer of hope in this news is that I only spend five minutes in Banbury Cross whenever I visit. But I guess it doesn't matter. It's just the principle of the thing.

Would we re-theme Ireland to fit with U2? Setting any area up to be tied to a certain time is setting it up to fail. When the Beatles fad fades, or fails, what will the next re-theme be?

I think they've got plenty of time before The Beatles "fad" fades. Probably at least another generation or so. That sounds like plenty of time for another retheme to me.

That's all assuming this retheme doesn't flop immediately due to bad execution (it really isn't a bad concept, just one that will be very difficult for the park to pull off well given their more recent modus operandi)

I guess I'm just not as up in arms over this as everyone else. Maybe it's because I think the area needs some revamping. Maybe it's because I spend a total of 2 minutes in Banbury on any given trip to the Gardens. Regardless, I'm just not that concerned.

Y'know, I read the threads on here a lot. Many people are very nostalgic for the way Busch Gardens did 'blah blah blah' in the past. Theme parks change - constantly. It's the nature of the beast. I'm not a nostalgic person by nature so I think a shake up might be good. It might not be. But it might be.

I also like The Beatles and the 60s Mod/Skinhead/Rocker/London Underground theme. It wasn't all hippies and protests, y'know.

I guess I'll just reserve my judgement until I see what's been done.

I understand that theme parks change, and I'm far from being against change, but the change that has taken place recently at BGW has been for the worse. The park was founded with an Old Country theme, and having spots in the park now that have a much more modern theme doesn't make sense. Verbolten is a great ride, but the theme required a vast change to the Oktoberfest area, and it was a change that wasn't as good in my opinion. I agree that for the most part, I could care less about what happens in Banbury Cross, but I don't want to see an increase in the dichotomy between themes at Busch Gardens. The park is just starting to lack a solid cohesive feeling that it used to always have. I just hope this isn't a harbinger for future decisions.

Just saying, no one has ever brought up any changes they felt were actually good. Every change has seemed to be hated, with the exception of the Aquitaine Renovation. Just saying its hard to believe people like change we they hate every change. With that, I am sure you guys love some changes like completely starting the park from scratch with the Old Country theme.

I personally think modernization is what the park could use and it has proved that modernization can be done rightfully so. Unfortunately not everyone sees such.
