It's about time Rock N Roll Island got some actual theming... :p

Hey who knows I like this concept, I don't like that they are changing Banbury Crossing but, theme parks can't look the same and it will breath a new and fresh look to the park that has been the same for as long as I can remember.

Is that sarcasm?
I can't image anyone who has been to the park thinking that converting something as well done as Banbury Cross into a 60's theme is a good idea. It smacks of something done just because it can be done, not because it should be. If we can look to Oktoberfest's overlay for the future than as they say in Shark Tank, "I'm out..."

P.S. Whats wrong with something being "the same as long as you can remember"? Ever been to Main Street at the Magic Kingdom (or any Disneyland for that matter), retail may have changed but the theme has remained as strong as ever.

I don't think a company as successful as the Walt Disney Company would fiddle with success.

It isn't sarcasm, not at all. I think that this isn't a bad idea at all, i do think that the money that they are using to re-theme the area should go to areas that need it like an attraction in Ireland or to Fiesta Italia. But really, I like the idea of the 60s peace, love, and rock n roll theme.

For the "same as I can remember" part of this, I don't think that you can bring in Disney for that argument. Counter argument, what about New Fantasy Land and removing some of the classic rides? So yes Disney did fiddle with success... And what about Universal Studios taking away Jaws ride that opened with the park to now become Diagon Alley? change happens in all parks.

But change is something that naturally happens weather you like it or not (for the good or for the worse of the park). Who knows maybe it will be better than anybody thinks and we all end up enjoying the new area.

This is only my opinion and not an attack on anyone's views, but personally I think this is going to look so tacky. No matter how well executed it is going to be completely at odds with the rest of the park. Perfect example, verbolton, great theming but still does not"fit" the surroundings. I also don't care for British invasion era theming, but i guess lots of people must. I hope the retheme is minimal.

Ha, comparing Disney to BGW is ridiculous. Disney is on a whole other scale. They are so popular they don't need to do anything. You mention Disney and people will just flock there. Their park could just stay the exact same, no changes for years and they will still be fine.

Universal is even different. Everyone expects their favorite movie to have a ride so they have to change. That is just how their theme and audience works.

Honestly, I just don't care about this retheme. I mean I expect it to turn out similar to Oktoberfest. It is not the end of the world. It will have a fresher look, which can be a good thing.

My prediction: It will turn out somewhat okay, people will continue to complain about it until the Food & WIne Festival and then people will not even care about it at that point.

First off, great post. I do disagree with this sentence, however. I feel as though a minimally-done retheme would even be worse than a full-fledged retheme. I'd prefer not to see an old Elizabethan-era English village peaking out through layers of paint and billboards. It would make my heart sink to still see old jester faces and paintings of knights hiding beneath nothing more than sparkles and glitter. It would put me on the verge of tears to see the holes where the elegant faces of lions once spouted water into the fountain below. It would devastate me to see the faint outline of the Queen's face painted over with the likeness of Freddie Mercury on the sign hung over the Globe. It would torment me to still see the medieval-style chandeliers in the shops merely covered up with tinsel and spray paint. It would drive me into insanity to still see the likeness of an old English village standing in the form of the Clock Tower in the middle of a modern wasteland. It would boil me alive to see the tacks and bare spots on the walls left behind from the removal of the once-elegant paintings and icons. It would horrify me to see the quaint rooftops of the sleepy old village gasping for breath amongst a vast sea of paint and sparkles. It would haunt me forever to still hear the faint chimes of the regal Handel Water Music Suite, gently whispering through the air now dominated by the blasting of "Somebody to Love" and "Penny Lane."

If you're going to wipe out a very cherished memory of so many lovers of the park, at the very least you shouldn't mock them by leaving haunting remnants of it behind.

Keep in mind that no building permits have been filed related to this retheme, so don't expect any major structural changes.

That again means they're going to try to do it with minimal supplies and budget, and knowing BG(in the past couple of years), it will end up looking sloppy and un-organized. Look at all the other things that the park did on a very minimal budget, Illuminights 2013, Cut Throat Cove, Killarney Kommotion, half of Howl-o-scream 2013, and many other things. Doing it with out the major funding for them to build new buildings, just shows you now, that it is going to be a low-budget thing. And low budget things have turned out to really disappoint recently at BGW.

Not to be a pain or anything, Matthew, but you said KK and then said Killarney Kommotion. Those are the same thing. I'm sure it was just a spelling error where you forgot you already wrote it (do it all the time myself). Sorry for off topic talk.

On topic talk now, LEAVE BANBURY CROSS ALONE!!!

I'm really enjoying all of these personal breakdowns based off of all the post construction images we've seen.

Oh yea...

Do I think this will work fantastically? No. Is there a possibility it may work? Yes. Will that determine whether I buy a pass next year? Heck no. Can we at least reserve our war declarations until the first promo pic materializes on Facebook?

Sky (knows he will be flamed for this, but it had to be said)

Jr., I don't know where you've been for the past 18 pages of discussion, but the entire problem is that the London Rocks theme is spreading throughout the entire hamlet. They will be changing everything. If they were only changing the theater/lobby itself, I would not mind at all.

I'm pretty sure that the park is not really doing that much to Banbury Cross. They would've shown concept art if anything was happening. The park isn't as bad as we say they are. This probably will start a argument but, what if they just revamp the theater and change the lobby?

EXACTLY! I seriously can not give enough thanks to these posts!

Please show me the concept art, the construction pictures, the blueprints. It may not be the ENTIRE hamlet and it maybe not be EVERYTHING. And if it is, I highly doubt it is to the extent that everyone thinks it will be.

Um, if I remember correctly, the press release that YOU linked for me to read earlier said that SG himself said "The entire hamlet will be getting a makeover to go along with the new show." So I'm pretty sure that means most if not everything in the hamlet is going to be cosmetically changed in some way. And that post was pretty rude, no one needs to prove anything to you. And if you want them to, you don't go off acting like they're dumb a**** who don't know anything.

I just went and looked at the press release, and this is exactly what it said, "The entire English village inside Busch Gardens is getting a makeover to go with the new show." Here's the Press Release, go check, that's exactly what it says.

I feel very offended by the tone of your post. I just think it is very absurd that one would take a quote from a man who they thoroughly despise and insult as a serious point of argument. I see no serious nor legitimate evidence that supports drastically terrible changes as of yet.
