I'm curious now to see how the queue is gonna be organized... It didn't occur to me until seeing the construction photos on Twitter that the simulator load platform is higher than the roller coaster track. Also it looks like at least one of the pre-show rooms has been gutted, which I'm hoping doesn't mean we're going to be left with an empty warehouse for a queue. Seems kinda ridiculous that they'd invest extra time and money into un-theming a queue that was already themed for them.
If I had to guess it’ll be a cattle pen there but the other(s) will probably stay preshow? Just a guess.

With modern SeaWorld, we should be happy we even get station roofs.
I can only wonder what they even do with the money they're not investing in these new rides... Seems like they were putting way more effort and money into new rides five years ago when they had way less money flowing in or saved up.

New videos on YouTube show the ride track is pretty much complete, with crews now moving on to adding theming. On that note, it's now sounding more like there may be some level of theming on this ride, despite what park executives said early on. Exactly what that entails is still unknown and there's not a single piece of artwork released to date, but in the recent hard hat tour it was revealed that the helicopter previously kept near the simulators will be moved out into the ride path somewhere, among other things.

It’s funny to me people gave up on SEAS theming things after COVID and now they are getting back into… you know, theming things

I’d wait to let them off the hook until we actually see what the finish products look like. So far, the only theming we’ve seen is DarKastle’s existing theming being reused and now reports of an existing helicopter prop being moved.

I guess we'll have to wait and see. As far as I can tell it was Scott Ross that brought the hedge fund-like business direction and the moratorium on theming, decent food, and attention to details, and it began before the pandemic (see Ice Breaker, Pantheon, Emperor, Texas Stingray, Tigris, Iron Gwazi, Serengeti Flyer, Finnegan's Flyer, Tidal Twister, Tidal Surge). I'd love to see SEAS invest in high-quality additions again but I'm not getting my hopes up just yet lol.

In this video from American Coaster Enthusiasts, the project manager talks about some of the theming elements that will be used for Arctic Rescue.

"Quonset hut" sounds an awful lot like the brief show scene at the beginning of Wave Breaker, which is also in a quonset hut-like structure. Glad to hear we'll at least be getting that! The "skylight" thing also sounds interesting; I wonder if it'll be a legit screen with photorealistic animations or more of a simple LED panel like the one over Mako's station.

Hopefully they take better care of the show scene here than the one on Wave Breaker. When I visited SWSA in January, not a single one of the screens in Wave Breaker's show scene was working. They were just playing the audio.
The screen door that is supposed to open before the first launch and close afterwords is stuck open.

Seems odd that the other SEAS coasters are all ready to go for this month, but we've heard crickets in regards to this ride (even though it has a "spring 2023" opening window).
I think they said they're a bit behind schedule because of all the rain that San Diego was getting earlier this year. My guess is the original plan was to open it around the same time the other parks open their new additions, but it's anyone's guess what the new timeline is. Last I checked they're still saying "Spring 2023" so maybe there's still a chance of it opening in time for the Summer Spectacular on June 17?

Same. I was just there two weeks ago, and it was just lights and audio. Not a single screen was operating.
The screen door that is supposed to open before the first launch and close afterwords is stuck open.

Oof, that's so disappointing! For such a simple "scene" you'd think they'd be able to keep it working. One glimmer of hope is that SWSD has been able to keep the Manta show scene more or less operational for ~10 years and that's arguably more elaborate. Then again, there's also the JTA show scene that's been nerfed for years now 😅

Sorry for the double post--SeaWorld just posted a new picture showing the "quonset hut". Doesn't look like it'll really be so much of a show scene as just scenery, unless they just haven't installed doors/screens/etc yet.

Ironically enough the caption was "Right on track," as if the entire post was a pointed response to our discussions/speculations here 😂 But if they are indeed "right on track" then I wonder why they haven't announced an opening date yet?
