The key word is "theme" - which our friends at SEAS seem to be making a low priority these days, especially in Virginia. To paraphrase - "Once they get wet, they won't think too much about theming".More importantly though, it fits perfectly with the Godzilla spoof/knockoff theme of Aquazoid since Mechagodzilla was a major monster character in a handful of the Godzilla film sequels (according to some quick Googling).
