I don't understand why the author feels like they're responsible..

If this article is legit the author may be in need of some therapy. No reasonable person would think there was anything they could do.

Warn Fabio before riding? There was no reason to foresee danger.
Yell to warn Fabio? No way would this have worked.
Get out of restraint? Now we're really in the realm of crazy.

i think the author doesn't actually care as much as he portrays. the writing seems very heavily satirical imo. obviously, yes, he wishes he could've done something to help. but realistically there was really nothing that could've stopped the bird anyways

Hm. Doesn't read that way to me.. if it's intended as satire, written word is not an ideal medium as the satirical bit are much better portrayed through facial expression or vocal inflection.

Clickhole is 100000% satire. It's literally the Onion in the style of Buzzfeed. This is a takeoff on those melodramatic survivor stories that end up on clickbait websites all the time and is a totally made up experience.

Ah.. thanks. There are far too many of these satire sites popping up to keep track of.

Is it normal for apollo's to close before park closing time? Because we got there 3 minutes before the park closes and it was closed and I was just wondering if that's normal.

I'd say 3 minutes is cutting it as basically park closing. But I could be wrong in how they operate their closing schedule ride by ride on accordance to the park's.

We have closed down the park many times on Apollo's chariot. Usually it's as long as you are in line by close you are good to go. Either they had a problem and just closed early, or ride ops were a little anxious to leave. They make an announcement when the park closes. Past experience is that ops will close the line off promptly at that time. If there were no trains still running at 3 till they likely had a problem.

Most parks (can't speak for BGW specifically) have an acceptable line close time. Usually it's 1 cycle+walk time from gate. But there's always a few 'loopholes' in the rule that ride ops can use.

For example at Hersheypark: The coasters of the Hallow (Comet, Skyrush, SDL) tend to close their lines 2 minutes before the park closes. But if the line is empty 10 minutes before close, the ride ops can opt to close the ride. SDL is usually closed 10 minutes early, Skyrush is usually cut for the line about 5 minutes (due to load times), and Comet you can usually sneak into the line up to closing time.

Sad story today. So as posted earlier I asked the ride ops to turn on the lift music. I saw the lady go pass the message to the controller. He looked at her like she had three heads.

I watched him go over to the screen and look for this mystical lift music. He called over the second person working the booth and they seemed just as confused. They consulted with a third colleague and then gave up.

No lift music today.

My err..friend sometimes is a ride op for Apollo's Chariot. From what I've been told, turning on the lift music is a rather simple process. I've also heard that ride ops sometimes keep the music off because it can be annoying for the team member working controls. Just what I've heard so it may not all be factual.

I requested it be turned on before my ride a weekend or two ago and the guy at controls complained over the loudspeaker that he always shuts it off because it's annoying. He turned it on for two cycles and then shut it back off again. ?

Can you fathom this being allowed at an actual theme park?
