Look what we have here! I wonder who composed the music, it sounds very epic.

The segment from 1:00-1:45 is what plays on loop on the lift hill if the operators ever bother turning the lift music on.

They have been doing so consistently since opening week of Mako. Coincidence? It would be cool if the music was tied into some type of show control, but you can hardly hear it unless you know to listen for it. In fact, Mako is almost the same way, except the audio is part of show control.

I have to wonder if the score was originally written to be played for the entire ride length, not just the lift hill leaving extra audio for waiting in the station and sitting in break-runs. Just a thought, no inside information.

Ever since hearing that suite I have been wondering the same thing. First off, I have heard multiple rumors to support the idea that Apollo's Chariot was supposed to have deeper theming, instead of the rather ambiguous theme that it (and most of Festa Italia) has today. Apollo's chariot was a drastic pivoting point for what was considered an over-flow area.

Before Apollo's Chariot, they played with all sorts of theming ideas including Marco Polo's travels and a lush carnival surrounded by more Roman Ruins. All-in-all (in the case of Apollo's Chariot), it seems that they chose "beauty" over heavy theming, which would likely have compromised several trees.

As for the music, that idea of music being thrown out would sound typical of Busch Gardens during that era. Doug Minerd mainly wrote the score for AC. However, Gary Lensenmayer (the arranger, in this case) typically writes a much longer amount of music than what is used, whether he wrote or arranged the music. That's just his/their style. There is probably a lot of music somewhere from these attractions that we may never hear (Pompeii comes to mind). It's nice to dream about the possibilities though.

BTW, what is anyone's experience with the new B&M Hyper train seating? Does it do anything for the experience?

I do think Apollo needs some attention as it hasn't a received paint job in almost ten years and defientely deserves some more attention for being a world class coaster.

I feel like a lot of coasters are built, then neglected. So many I've come across in about 2 years are in desparate need of paint. It would seem like a simple thing to keep the park vibrant and keep rides from rusting. Is the money that tight they can't maintain coaster track upkeep? They're the most noticeable features of most parks and can really make a park look I maintained.

I don't know what paint they use, but I know it isn't cheap to paint a coaster. If it wasn't so expensive, they might try to put on paint that lasts. It costs about $300 for a good set of paint, primer, and clear coat for a car. Think about what it might cost to paint 2000+ feet of track with that.

This is probably why you see the paint faded so often. It simply costs too much to get paint that resists fading. This means that after just a few years you are left with a coaster that looks quite pale. I don't have time to do the math, but even at something like $30/gallon I imagine the cost is more than I make in a year(not that I make a lot or anything).

EDIT: Quick google search brought up figures as low as $50,000 to well over .5 million. No good sources though(not surprised there).

What in talks opinions is the likeliness of AC getting a repaint in between HOS and CT because it sure does look like she got a repaint

If Kraken VR is popular, I wouldn't be too surprised to see some media enhancements made to Apollo's Chariot, especially after the success of Mako. I'm not saying I want it to become a VR coaster, but a few enhancements (such as any theming) would be nice.

I don't think that BGW has a good VR coaster. Alpie is a good candidate but takes too long to load. VR needs a coaster that is struggling in ridership and can handle the loading hassles of headsets. Kraken fits this bill, alpie and Apollo do not.

Nessie maybe?

^Nessie has enough to look at as is. When you look at Kraken, it's a beautiful ride in a rather bad-looking area. LNM is an older ride, but maybe they could consider VR if/when the line dwindles to the point where it only reaches the station.

As for Apollo's Chariot, enhancements are all this ride needs. Again, the scenery is pretty, but there is no theming to speak of on the ride. Again, just give it the Mako treatment.
