Honestly, no organization, least of all BGW, has limitless resources.  What would major structural project would you like them to sacrifice to freshen the paint?

I think the park needs to take another look at their priorities. Why add three coasters in five years if they can scarcely keep the ones they already have looking presentable?

Personally, I would have preferred a fresh coat of paint on Apollo to Tempesto altogether.

While I agree that their priorities have not matched the enthusiast community's in the recent past, I would point out we don't know what the new management will do.

Obviously, I would have preferred they work on Apollo (or really anything for that matter) over building Tempesto, but I can't say that I object to any of the work they have been doing recently.  I am completely willing to wait for brighter purple paint, while they are addressing massive erosion and tree clearing issues.

Apollo runs perfectly well, even when it is faded. Le Scoot was nearly dismantled, because of it's structural problems. I think it is question of priorities right now.

I think this is highly debatable. I have never gotten the feeling from any of BGW's coasters, or rides for that matter that have made them seem unpresentable. But it also depends on what you mean by presentable. When a ride is unpresentable, I usually am questioning whether more work should have been done before it opened that day/season, and I can say for the most part (maybe excluding Mach Tower :p) that I have never gotten that feeling out of any of BGW's rides. AC may have an appearance issue, but (and I know some will disagree with me) I have never felt AC has overall been neglected. The trains always seem to be in top shape with harnesses and seats constantly being refurbished, especially when compared to a lot of Cedar Fair's B&Ms where some seats and harnesses just gross me out. It appears the extra funding just has not yet been available to paint AC, as the park has been focused on other, more urgent things like Le Scoot, as Nicole pointed out.

I also question the accusation that new attractions detract from maintenance's budget in such a manor.

Ok I am going to have to disagree on this one some what. Why I have no question that Apollo could use a new coat of paint. I do disagree about the statement that repainting it would be money better spent then building Tempesto. And here is why despite what many people here think of the ride it did generate a lot of buzz and hype for the park. It also presumably brought in new guest to the park. Personally when I saw my cousin who lives in England over Christmas one of the first thing he asked me was if I had riden Tempesto and what I thought of it. A new coat of paint for Apollo doesn't generate that kind of interested.

I think BGW should spend a year or two and focus exclusively on what they have and improving it. Give everything the good old paint and polish. Headline it with a few throwbacks. Something that ethusiasts and regular parkgoer would enjoy....(brainstorm intensifies)

Something to consider, painting a coaster is not just a process of going to Home Depot and picking up a couple of gallons and a roller.

Many things have to be considered. First of all the type of paint used is not cheap. The volume is substantial, and the weight of the paint has to be considered. Finally things like crane rentals, bucket trucks, and climbers all cost.

I will also say that I'd much rather Apollo have to wait a couple more years for a full paint job done right (see LNM's last repaint) than see the park sloppily spot-fix its paint like they've done to Alpie (now that's a travesty).

Anyway, would I prefer that Apollo were painted sooner rather than later? Certainly. Do I think it's any sort of critical need right now? Not at all—I don't even think it should be the first coaster in line for paint.

What coaster do you think should get painted first?

Apollo should be painted first as its the most faded. The other coasters have color schemes that don't fade as easily. Whites, light blues, and greys don't fade as badly as the dark purple you see on Apollo, which is pretty much a light gray color now.

Alpie needs it first. It doesn't look as faded as Apollo, but the patchwork nonsense they have done makes the coaster look like a complete joke. Faded is vastly preferable over sloppy in my mind.

I just thought I would mention that they fixed Apollo's dispatch recording and it's now plays when you leave the station.

I haven't been this year...does it play before or after the ride operator screams "are you ready to ride? I can't hear you" five times?

I don't have the knowledge to say which coaster needs to be painted first, but it is a little saddening to pull up to the toll booths and the first thing in sight is a coaster with near-white track. It's almost a ghost of the rich, royal, deep purple tracks that once regally dominated the treetops.

If I were in charge, I would want to make a solid first impression by keeping the first coaster guests see looking beautiful.

That's why they built tempesto!
