Anaconda seems to have some new running rails in the bottom portion of the butterfly, which can be known for the worst part of the head banging. Only the rails are freshly painted and the spines remain the same as faded peeled paint.

They really need to paint that ride. Glad that they replaced the rail though. Hope they can fix a lot of the issues on the ride to make it more enjoyable.

It wasn't any better last weekend. I use to defend this ride, but I am ready to see it melted down for scrap metal. I despised the most recent ride on it.

Obviously I'm weird, because I like Anaconda. Doesn't beat me up nearly so much as Grizzly, say. I probably do have some nostalgia for it as an Arrow coaster though.

Haven't ridden it in a couple of seasons, also, so if it has gotten seriously worse just in the last year or two I haven't experienced its current state.

Such a shame to see such an awesome ride like Anaconda get this much hate from everyone....Yes it's bumpy. But that's what I like about it. If every ride were as smooth as 305 for instance, I'd be bored to tears. Maybe it's just me, but there's something fun about discovering where on a ride you need to do something like hold your head back, or brace yourself for a turn...stuff like that.

Some rides age well. These 80s-designed Arrows have not. The Viper at Magic Mountain (nearly the same ride) is just as horrendous. I will not miss the Anaconda when it's put down behind the barn.

Quoting because it's the honest truth, just push the timeline to about 1980-1994 and it's perfect.

I understand there's some nostalgia and the fact that it's an Arrow, but steel coasters aren't supposed to be THAT rough. Yeah we all like I-can't-believe-it's-butter smoothness but I'm a fan of some shaking and rattling, not head smashing similar to being at a metal concert. The level of roughness with Anaconda is similar to most wooden coasters I've been on, which isn't a line steel coasters should cross.

That can not happen soon enough.

Time to put it out of its misery!

^ This. I don't have a problem with a bit of a rattle (Flight of Fear) or some badly banked turns (Loch Ness Monster) but Anaconda was downright hellish last weekend.

^That's the point.

(And may he rest in peace knowing how so many of his creations are still legendary)

Yes, and may we have respect for him and his legends...or at least those that don't beat us senseless ;)

Sorry to double-post, but this thought is completely independent from the last.

I was able to ride Anaconda today and even at the most crowded point of the day not the train could not even be completely filled. A couple of people got off reemarking how badly their heads hurt, one little girl even exclamed that it was an "awful" experience. There is no more joy in the ride...it's now just trying not to get bashed to badly on the face so you're not constantly blurting out in pain. This ride has reached its time (and if it were to go, I don't think anyonr would miss it terribly).

That said, it does look mighty beautiful swooping over that lake (especially at sunset)!
