Found a picture online (from Theme Park Review) of Anaconda over the original Lake Charles, 3X larger than it is today. Beautiful!

For some reason, I think Arrow coasters look really pretty over water.

I can't wait to see what's in store for the ride next year: new trains, new paint job (maybe a new color scheme?), lake clean-up? Return of water blasts? I would love to see their approach on this. I've personally never seen a park, let alone a Cedar Fair park, try to improve a classic, aging coaster instead of getting rid of it. Kudos to KD!

I still think trains like this from Vekoma would certainly help.

Let's see what happens!
How about the vekoma vest restraints or even the vekoma lap bars like on some boomerangs.

I think the biggest problem with the ride is those horrid turns after the mcbr. Like wooden coasters, Arrows are made with gap tolerance on the running wheels, a tolerance that is very noticeable when you are going through those turns and slamming the whole weight of the train from one side to the other. Anaconda, will never be smooth, regardless of trains. The track tolerance just isn't up to snuff.
Hmm, when Vekoma refurbished Ninja SFoG into Blue Hawk, they replaced rough spots - maybe the changes they made were to allow for trains with tighter tolerances?

Not exactly sure what the problem was. We had heard a large bang/crash right as we hit the line entrance and they were running test trains when we got to it but they boarded us after 3 cycles. My entirely unsubstantiated guess was that the issue happened when the chain was catching the car. It seemed to have a bit more jerk that usual but we safely made it up the lift.. Almost like a slipping clutch finally hooked up. We were fortunate enough to be on a brake block so we were able to jump a few feet (higher than expexted) out of the car down to the walkway. The other train was stuck with half on the lift hill, half before it. When I was walking alongside the track, the park was using tall ladders to get people down from there.

Everyone either doesnt know, or gets tight lipped when you ask so we got no more info. I saw a test train running a few hours later but I'm not sure if they opened it back up or not.

I've only made it to KD twice this year and have been stuck on coasters both times (BLSC roll back due to cold wheels was fun on that helix). With Volcano closed for the season, Anaconda doing this (which I find fun and unique), Avalanche was down on our lap, Flight of Fear was closed, The Crypt is never open, Berserker down, BLSC show elements not working, R76 only running the south track, Grizzly only running 1 car, and even TT went down for an hour while we were in line.... Even the tv screens showing the menus at The Mac Bowl were all broken. KD seemed to be in quite the rough state.

I can't think of any Arrow coasters that have been retrofitted with new Vekoma trains. The only exception I know of would be Loch Ness of course, though the new trains didn't change the restraint design and were made by S&S as opposed to Vekoma.

With S&S owning the Arrow assets now, would this be less of a retrofit and more of a direct replacement? She's the smoothest running arrow I've ridden but were Nessie's cars changed from original spec much?

Also, Anaconda was running quite smooth (by Anaconda standards) yesterday before the incident.

The biggest issue as I understand is where the wheels ride on the train. Arrows wheels operate inside the rails, and most manufacturers have moved to wheel assemblies being outside the rails. So to make a replacement they need to find someone willing to recreate that wheel assembly.

I have limited knowledge on the topic if anybody wants to clarify.
At Dreamworld in Australia, Hot Wheels Sidewinder, originally known as Cyclone changed trains. The ride is an Arrow from 1995 and in 2016 received trains from Vekoma with straps and on-board audio.

Sorry for double posting, but I took pictures after riding it. Here they are!

Welp. Might as well move this to defunct since CF is removing the Arrow loopers now.

^^-- Not comparable as KI didn't just lose their Volcano.

Anaconda is the craziest coaster at KD!

Curious - since it's been mentioned that a major parts supplier is in Richmond and that between CF scrapped rides there's probably a plethora of parts available, does this ride have a pre-determined shelf life?

So, does this mean that some folks will stop pissing and moaning now that KD is not the only CF park having 2 coasters removed from their lineup? (With KI losing 2 coasters within 3 years).
