Went on the ferris wheel for the first time in a year or so last night. Any idea why only two cars are being loaded at a time instead of four. The ride time itself was long, but the wait was much longer than I recall in the past.

I noticed the lights have been completely removed from Americana. I wonder if they’re planning to add a new light package or if so many of lights have gone out that they just said screw it and removed them. The lights on this ride have been looking sad for the last few years, which is a shame because a modern lighting package would make an awesome visual impact on this corner of CAG at night.

Interesting. They’d been shutting off more of the lights as the last year or two went on.

Funny, two years ago before we had confirmation or even rumors of Rapterra, my money for a KD 50th anniversary would have been on a repaint/update/new lights on the carousel, Americana, and Racer. Now we are in an alternate timeline where we actually got a (mostly) amazing 50th anniversary year (great new coaster, Jungle Xpansion, Dominator repaint, food and merchandise location upgrades, and upcoming live entertainment) and something as classic feeling as you can get is left as a shell of what it could be.

Hopefully new LED lights are incoming. Could look amazing during ahem… Winterfest.

According to KD's latest blog post, Americana is getting a brand-new lighting package that will be installed by this summer! This should add a lot of life to that corner of the park, especially compared to how sad its now-removed lights had been looking for the past several years.

I would love to see the park install a new controls system that will help operators with balancing the wheel. I believe they're still manually balancing right now and the inexperienced ops will only load 4-8 gondolas at a time (2-4 at bottom, 2-4 at the top) even on the busy days.

They need a Sky tower. The views of the James River are fantastic from there and they need a observation ride where one can appreciate that. Mach Tower should’ve been converted to an enclosed observation ride.
it would be called: mach observation tower

Views of the James from Doswell?

Eiffel Tower (when open) isn't an observation tower?

Oh wait, for some reason you're replying to something someone said about a different park.

I was confused myself, but haven’t been to KD in several years so I was thinking maybe just maybe I wasn’t remembering correctly.

The new lighting package on Americana looks really good:

I noticed it while riding Pantherian; where it's that bright. And when entering CAG from all the way down by the Singing Mushrooms: even with all the foliage on the trees, it's still highly noticeable.

So Americana now really comes alive at night, and fits in with all the other lighting packages of the flats of CAG.
