Alpengeist is not on the chopping block list. If it were, I don't believe a roller coaster would occupy the valley as its replacement. The lake bed has proven to be a pretty bad spot to build an entire roller coaster.

I also do not think Busch Gardens would go the route of Hulk/Nemesis track and column replacement. B&M seems to be perfectly okay with the track and column repairs on Alpengeist and Kumba the way they've been going for 30ish years.

Alpengiest might be permanently closed for a few months. Something broke off the track/ride vehicle yesterday around 5pm. Security and maintenance was on scene and tried to pick up all the pieces before a fellow member got a picture for us.
Last fall alpie needed many crane required repairs also we reported on the vertical paint fractures on many of its support beams. Is it time the park finally retracked/replaced alpengiest with a newer hybrid version? Maybe.

Side note many people commented hearing a very loud bang before the park closed the ride?. Probably related in some how.

I did hear a loud bang - I walked over to Alpie at 4:30 and it was already closed

That doesn't look like part of the ride

Really hard to tell but might be part of fiberglass shell that hangs over the track.

If it's that then it could be something as simple as bolts not being tightened down enough and one came loose.

It doesn't look like a wheel cover or any other train component to me though.

The color seems similar to the support structure, which to me makes much more sense given the sound people said they heard. Hopefully it is an easily fixable piece and not a cracked support column in a hard to access location.

The track and support work that is currently on going. Based on what could see today I don't see anything that suggests that we are looking at a months long closer.
