I'm not saying it's made up, perhaps misunderstood. I'm just saying the claim that they didn't lock, and only one row, is unheard of unless the unlocking bar was stuck down and the giant spring that returns it to the locked position was somehow misplaced. Additionally, the train locks and unlocks harnesses with rails spanning two cars. Did you see the screen that operations uses showing a row not green? That happens often. That's simply monitoring locking pawls have reached the minimum closed position. Sometimes operations will open and close it several times to get the thing to read right on the TV.
It's crazy to think Alpengeist is only 5 years younger than Vortex at Carowinds. That's a huge uptick in quality for a coaster manufacturer in a short period of time. Also, these coasters are getting up there in age.
B&M really struck gold with the invert. Going from the god awful standups to one of the most widely beloved coaster models in the span of 2 years is such a massive accomplishment.

Looks like they’re doing work today. The video I posted above showed a crane basket under the first drop with people working on the track. Probably same maintenance we saw happening a few years ago.
Plan for a ride being open weeks before mardi and were doing maintenance on it the 1st nice weekend lol And it's track work. We didn't inspect stuff like this during the week or something?

My understanding from talking to people is it's routine work that was delayed by the weather and that it likely will be open by next week.
Despite it's maintenance headaches thre is a strong desire to keep it around and I don't foresee it going anywhere for s long time unless something unexpected happens. My understanding is the crane was there for a routine inspection and some normal maintenance work. Weather had just prevented it from being done before the event.
Ahh. It is an impressive ride and a record breaker, I feel like we would probably see another case of Loch Ness(and Steel Curtain lol) before we see it getting removed.
Like Nessie location is also a major factor as that valley will be full of mountains of red tape to build anything new in it.
