Now just waiting for a photo from the "skirt..." Like this if you know what I am talking about!

I'm not sure what I am looking at, is there something I am missing?

Heard recently that there is some interest in the park buying a new 3rd train for Alp this year. Keep in mind a few years ago they decided to use the old third train for parts as a cost savings measure. The biggest reason why they are looking at Alp’s 3rd train again is to help increase capacity for Christmas Town. Apparently Alp has the ability to operate better in colder weather than other coasters. Can anyone confirm this?

They might want to open it for CT before deciding its capacity isnt up to snuff. Besides, 3 train ops would not help the ride much even on the busiest days.

Care to elaborate a bit on the rumor's beginnings? I have doubts that they're trying to run the third train (Although it'd be a welcome practice). Didn't it always stacked with 3 train ops? As far as it running during CT, B&M has an alarm on it that has to be manually turned off because the ride was not designed to run in under 40 degrees.

They might be looking to have more rides for ct but i dont see how that requires a third train. Bolt barely gets lines at ct last i knew and then theres the fact that this is alp. I rode it damn near 40 the one year they had it for ct and it was freezing. The extra speed wicks all the heat from your body and dangling feet does not help. The reasoning here just doesn’t click. All that said i wouldbt be surprised to either see alp open for ct or to see a third train again.

Maybe it's that they've ran out of certain parts and aren't getting a new train, but instead the parts that the previous 3rd train had.

Until seeing this I didn't realize Alpie was on permanent 2-train ops; always figured they rotated the trains in and out for even wear under normal circumstances, added the extra train when it gets crowded.

I can’t recall a time anywhere in the season over the last few years when I saw 3 train operations for this ride. The line can be very long for busier park days with just two train operations. I believe I only have seen trains 1 & 3 running the last few years.
Last time I remember 3 trains was 2014 if I'm remembering correctly

I was told in 2015 that 3 train ops were gone. 2 trains only from then on. They said between ride popularity and dispatch efficiency, it was not worth the third train. I believe they did rotate trains that season and maybe the following season. As for the temperature, Alpie is the same as AC and Griffon: 40F. VB is 36F, I dont know tempesto or invadr’s min. LNM has none to what I’m aware of.

@Zachary I believe this series of posts, while interesting, have gone far from the topic of Alpie.

Time for a split to a separate thread?

Well, if it ran in the winter, at least you are wearing a heavier coat to pad you a bit at the MCBR.
