RE: New Show for 2016: All For One

I'd like to see that!

In the old days of the pro wrestling business, when two guys put on a match that ran 100 miles an hour and involved everything but the kitchen sink, it was sometimes called a "Tennessee Town Killer" match by people in the business because it would set the fans' expectations so high that nothing could follow it, thereby "killing" that town for future business.

Imaginique might have been a Tennessee Town Killer. I think the reason we bring up Imaginique every time there's even a remote opportunity is because it was incredible and was a very difficult act to follow. All For One is the latest attempt, running in the same theater in the same time slot, and apparently using some of the same techniques (cirque). I'm hopeful that we can get something close to the quality of Imaginique. We'll see.

That has to be one of the scariest things that Entertainment has to do; not only removing a great show, but replacing it as well. Just look at Celtic Fyre, or even Secrets of Castle O'Sullivan (almost eight years).

I even have to admit that SOCO probably stayed too long, but they didn't try to replace it with another show. At least we had Kinetix, which was still above-par for most theme park shows.

I was just kidding. We should talk about Imaginique all the time. I am incredibly excited about a nighttime show in the RPT again. I mentioned it in a post forever ago that I enjoy the end of the night shows because it was in a sense a 'night cap.' As in, today was great, I'm gonna sit here and enjoy this show, maybe twice, and then go home. Imaginique was truly a routine for us. We would go every night we could just to see the show. We would even go when it was rainy because they would do a modified show.

It wasn't perfect. It wasn't stadium quality. But it was ours. It was to the edge of being over the top. Again, I mentioned it before, but remember how great Monster Stomp I & II were? They weren't perfect. But we loved it. Present MS tries to hard to be perfect. I want the glow in the dark skeletons, guests pulled up on stage by girls in devil's costumes and tap dancers in straight jackets.

My hope is that this show brings back those feelings. Reel me in. Get me invested and hook me. But don't use smoke and mirrors to mask a show that has no heart.

10 PM feels late. Is that a normal time or just a special time for pass members (the park closes at 10PM that night).

It's a normal time. That's how they would occasionally do it back when Imaginique and Kinetix were around. I assume that they will be having 2 shows a night on weekends and probably one per night on week days. Usually, if there's two shows, the last one will start at closing or just before it. And if there's one show, it usually starts a little before closing. But really, the main intention is for it to be dark for showtime, so whatever times accommodate that best. Since the premiere is close to the summer solstice, the showtimes are probably later than they would be by September.

The park just posted this.

Edit: I think it's really interesting to see rehearsals like this. I don't know if most people realize that performers usually reserve full-on acting until the last rehearsals/opening show. Maybe they could have somehow explained that.

For instance; if you saw rehearsals for Entwined, or even Roll Out The Barrel, you would see that performers sometimes have fun with using as little enthusiasm as possible. It's a trick to save energy.

They look like they belong at Castle Black.

RE: New Show for 2016: All For One

When riding the train on Saturday afternoon, we could see a couple of actors with harnesses on at the top of the set pieces. I'm assuming they were actors and not set designers seeing that they were dancing/acting. I'm pretty hopeful for this show!

A new section has been added to the park's All For One webpage:

En Guarde! All For One™ stage preparations are almost complete and rehearsals are underway. Take a look at how the Royal Palace Theatre stage has transformed over the past 3 months. We’ve created a setting unlike any other in the park for the Musketeers to battle for the Queen’s jewels. Don’t miss the new action-adventure show premiering July 1.

Hmmmmm....not sure if I like it based on the rehearsal video. I'm always hoping for something a little less---direct. It's one of the reasons I preferred the old Irish Thunder and Emerald Beat shows to Celtic Fyre. I liked the abstract nature of them.

We will see. Hopes still high. Haven't seen the finished product.

Hey guys I just received an email from the park confirming two show times for 8:45pm and 10:00pm on opening night. [Couldn't insert the email computer not working for some reason]

I got two of the reserved tickets with free drink for passmembers for the 10:00 show on Friday. They were all gone for both shows in less than a day from when the park sent out the email.

RE: New Show for 2016: All For One

It appears as if next Tuesday, which is the first 9 PM closing after the upcoming July 4th weekend, there is in fact only one showing and it is at 9:00. Therefore, it does appear as if there will be a showing every night at closing time, and on 10 PM closings there will be an additional showtime prior to closing.

RE: New Show for 2016: All For One

I am here that they hopefully had there dress rehearsal today but that they might not have one till tomorrow so the first few shows may be rough.

I also can confirm fire and pyro elements which the fire department went through and checked a signed off on those this afternoon

RE: New Show for 2016: All For One

You got better photos than I did from that location. I am just in 'love' with those curtains. They look quite Parisian, yet more functional, like the Austrian curtain in London Rocks. In other words; rather than being parachute curtains, which usually fly in from one point, it can flow dynamically.

There will be muskets, pyro, controlled falling, abseils, and swinging from chandeliers.

I think there's a reason for the resemblance to Phantom and Les Miz (aside from being French-based).

Who got to see rehearsals last night? I didn't myself, but I really enjoy watching rehearsals at last minute crunch time. I'm sure everyone was frantic. The set looks like it may or may not have been completely finished as late as yesterday. Although, Celtic Fyre ran for a few weeks before they finished the set during their first season.

I am going to watch it tonight with my reserved seating, but I always run the risk of missing too much pyro action if I'm sitting too close. There's nothing more disappointing to unsuspecting audience members than to see the performers "looking to the sky", only to see nothing. In my opinion, that was the only constant flaw with Twas That Night. It would be great if they came up with a fix for that.
