RE: New Show for 2016: All For One

The fact that they are using a costume designer other than Court Watson shows a big shift in their entire production style. Court Watson has provided many great costumes, but this could mean a switch from cartoon-like designs such as those in Roll Out The Barrel, Illuminights, etc.

I am hoping that they will take a more serious twist this time, especially since more seriousness seems to be Phil Raybourn's preferred method (Giardino Magico early on vs. the rest of Illuminights, and the darker motifs found in Howl-O-Scream).

There were shows for Illuminights?

BTW is Illuminights still happening?

Yes and no. Illuminights' last season was 2013, it was replaced with Star Spangled Nights, which is not returning this year. The idea of a summer event replaced the summer nighttime Royal Palace Theatre Show all together. Since we are seeing the rebirth of the Nighttime show this year, there will be no park-wide summer event like in the past.

Anyways, this excerpt on the All For One site stuck out to me:

This action-packed show will add thrilling entertainment to your evening at Busch Gardens® this summer, but have you ever wondered what goes into creating such a production? From finding talent across the country to recording music in one of the most influential musical cities in the world, we want to share the process behind bringing All For One™ to life with you. Check back often for more behind the scenes updates before the premiere of this exciting new show coming to Busch Gardens®.

As Zachary stated, it's nice to see the transparency that we're seeing from the park regarding InvadR transfer over to this project too. I really like this trend.

It also looks as if the park is recording a custom soundtrack for the show, which is always exciting. I was initially worried because of the park's hardcore attitude to this not being a musical, that they would just skip out on the soundtrack aspect of it. Personally, I think the thing that most current Action/Adventure shows out there lack is a strong soundtrack, which means the show is over-reliant on cheesy dialogue, which typically makes 75% of the show an attempt at being "punny." Thankfully, the park isn't skipping out on the soundtrack aspect of this show, which is promising.

The costume designs just give me such a different feeling. You can really tell from them that times have changed, hopefully for the better.

You know, come to think of it I did see KK in passing. I literally grimaced and avoided Killarney for the rest of the afternoon. I'm a bit disappointed I missed the other shows though, I wonder how I could have missed them.

Anyways, yes, I'm very excited about A41! It looks like they're doing the thing properly with good set design, costuming, and music. A decently-produced show will keep me and others coming back over and over again, much more so than a half-assed show. Take Celtic Fyre for example.

The You Tube video from 7/10/1976 has something I found rather interesting.  Check out the video at 3:17, specifically the name of the venue and type of act that is performing.  Coincidence? http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=2W7Rxz9eCPs

Could be but at the same time Busch has brought in new attractions that were in tribute to old ones before.

It's no secret that Royal Palage used to be called the Three Musketeers Theatre. In fact, there's still a reference to the Three Musketeers on a poster hanging on the side of Belle Maison, facing the skyride station.

Also, going back to the Three Musketeers Theatre thing, Pete Dunklee specifically stated last September that they were "bringing the Three Musketeers back." That was after he asked if anybody remembered what the RPT used to be called.

You can also see the moat around the stage where they used to have seals.

Shown above are some the sketches used in shaping the All For One™ characters’ wardrobe.

The All For One™ costume designs marry the traditional look of the time period with a modern sensibility. Designed by the talented Nicole Wee, the costumes in All For One™ had to be beautiful, practical, and able to withstand the daily action of the performers while staying true to the period of the world that the costumes exist in. With that in mind, the team set out to create pieces that speak to the individuality of each character and function as a complete story within our tale. Taking into consideration the Virginia weather, action on stage, period looks, breathability and movement, and beautiful looks that would pop off of the set, the All For One™ costumes are truly exciting. Currently under construction, the costumes debut on July 1.

RE: New Show for 2016: All For One

The return of a true nighttime show has been something I've been waiting on for years. The Cirque School tie-in is a major plus for me, as is what I've heard with regard to this thing not being a musical. The original soundtrack is a big deal as well, because I pretty much hate standards revues.

My only hope now is that the show isn't too punny or aiming low by going for cheesy jokes or thinly veiled "adult" humor and that sort of thing.

Imaginique remains the high-water mark for entertainment at BGW in my view. I'm really excited to see how this ends up comparing to that.

RE: New Show for 2016: All For One

The soundtrack is one thing that I am excited about. From what it sounds like, they are using a studio in either London or Tennessee. That's where most of their soundtracks are recorded. I highly doubt they will do this, but I would like to see them start using iTunes again.

RE: New Show for 2016: All For One

Speaking of the soundtrack, the park just posted a video which confirmed that the music is being recorded in Nashville, Tennessee. Not only that, the music is being composed by Gary Lensenmayer. For those who don't know, he was the former music director for all of the parks, who was laid off recently. Anyway, now he's back!

Also, the studio is almost definitely The Sound Kitchen. That alone would be enough to tell me that Gary is back. The park has used that studio faithfully for years. For big shows like Imaginique (I think) to small productions like Viva Italia. Color me excited!

He didn't do Imaginique. Cirque Productions created all the music themselves. Their show 'Jungle Fantasy' has a few of the tracks that were borrowed for Imaginique. I gots the CD.

Gotdammit, can we just never bring up Imaginique again? I feel myself slipping into a day of mourning today after just reading the word.

SN: does anyone know the best way (read: economical aka cheap) to convert an 8mm tape to a dvd? One time I counted it up, I think I have like 40+ hours of Imaginique on camcorder tape that spans all the seasons.

Keepin it on subject: Yay new show!
