So tonight, my wife ran into John Reilly, who she recognized from the youtube announcement videos as the park's GM and she stopped to talk to him. She asked him a couple of questions. Here's the jist:

1) Europe in the Air will open on May 1st.

2) Illiminights will include a parade/performance in each country with appropriate costuming, lighting, and music, in addition to the fireworks.

3) About the old Eagle's Nest area: He said that the gate was put up during Howl-o-scream and will be taken down soon I inquired about it as well with an employee at the children's services area and she said that the area had become a bit of a lover's lane last fall (they were busting a bunch of teenagers fooling around) so they gated it off. She told him that we had speculated that it may have been gated off to prepare for future construction and he just laughed that off.

She said he was extremely friendly and approachable, and seemed more than happy to answer her questions. You all may want to keep an eye out for him in the future :)

Your wife got more info from the park than they would ever give me.

I see him walking through the park all the time, he seems to be more than willing to talk to guests. Even saw him sweeping near Eagle Ridge one time.

That is a hoot about teens sneaking off to the old eagle's nest for a good snogging session. For me, I would rather they do that than make out right in front of me while I wait in line for a coaster. Seriously kids, get a room.

The parades sound interesting... I look forward to all the new changes in the park. Changes that seem like the old days of BGW.

Yeah, I was surprised that he seemed that willing to talk. She said she didn't really grill him or anything. The only specific question she asked was about the Eagle's Nest area. The rest of the stuff came from more of a "so what can we expect this year" type of inquiry.

BTW, we got to sit at the little front row tables during Celtic Fyre tonight. Very cool. Wasn't very crowded when we went in, so we just asked if we could sit there and they escorted us right down.

If he has it right, at least one of us should be there on the 30th with a camera in hopes of a soft opening. I may be able to, but Fridays are hard for me.

I'll be there on that Friday, but I'm wishing there was a sneak peek for media. Perhaps there will be, perhaps there won't.

I talked to the GM Saturday, and I asked about the effects in Darkastle. He said the water would sometimes spray the outside of the vehicle which made it hard to clean off at the end of the day. He also said he didn't ride it yet this season, but he said he'll mention it to the park operations department. I have talked to many times before, and he only says as much as he is allowed at a particular time.

I've run into this issue recently when writing from my iPhone, I'm looking for a solution. Sorry about the inconvenience.

I throw this out reading all comments, would the GM be willing to sit down with the "BGWFans Leaders"? I say this we all have feedback for them and they can use it or just simply ignore us that have comments. My opinion is if we notice the small things like Loch Ness tunnel effects gone and the Park changes they should take the feedback as a positive note and not negative. But we all need to know why is the BBW supports still there.......anyone anyone...

What I was trying to say earlier is that I've seen and talked tho most of the park officials except for Phil Raybourn (the director of Howl-O-Scream). Has anyone seen him? Of course, maybe he's just there around halloween.

Yeah, I talked to Phil on Media Day, he mentioned that he's visited the site. He's actually the Entertainment Director for the park, so he is where the buck stops as far as in park entertainment, not just HOS.

Well the gate at the old Eagle's Nest area is now open, so that's one thing the GM told us that did happen. Now to cross my fingers he was right about the May 1st Europe in the Air opening :)
