Earlier we mentioned that some special desserts would be making an appearance at tomorrow's birthday celebration. We spoke to Chef Paul today and learned a bit more about what we should expect.
In addition to all the special birthday items listed above, new non-seasonal food items will be making an appearance tomorrow as well. These dishes include Cobb, Spinach Berry, Chicken Chef and Asian Chicken salads alongside Fruit Yogurt Parfaits, OREO Dessert Cups, and Peanut Butter Mousse Trifle Cups.
KDFans plans to be at the park tomorrow to try out all the special birthday items and we'll be sure to report back with our thoughts!

So are these delicious looking foods only available for the KD40 Celebration or will they be available for the rest of the season + seasons to come? They look soooo good.
I believe the funnel cake will be a seasonal addition. Don't know how long the milkshake will last, but I'm pretty sure the birthday cupcakes will be exclusively for tomorrow. We weren't specifically told one way or another on any of the items though so this is all speculation at the end of the day.
Ah, thanks! Well that milkshake looks amazing! I'm trying to get out to KD next weekend, if not next weekend: a month from now!

The Fife and Drum corps of Old Virginia. There were also drummers in Safari Village but we didn't get to see them.

At 2 o'clock there was a rededication ceremony with several of the park's high-ups including Pat Jones. They spoke many kind words about their experiences with the park over the years.

The Clown Band, Peanuts characters, and some of the park's original characters were there, too.
The ceremony culminated in the unveiling of this plaque, which will go outside the park gates.

One of my favorite things is that there were various street actors (yes, street actors!) roaming International Street. Here are two of them:

There were also multiple live bands yesterday, two showings of the movie Rollercoaster, and an airplane that flow by trailing the message "Happy Birthday Kings Dominion!" The park definitely went all-out yesterday, and made their 40th birthday very special.

We also tried a bunch of new menu items and the dishes that were just for the birthday. As Joe said, we got the cupcakes, which were much better than last's year's specialty cupcakes. I especially enjoyed the red velvet. The birthday cake milkshake was fantastic, as well.
