40th Anniversary Celebration & Park Revitalization

The Gal and I visited the park today and It was like we were the only two people there. There had to be less than 1000 people there today. It gave me a chance to really look around without people everywhere. This place really looks great! We walked on everything she was big enough to ride. Volcano's Queue was empty. Everybody seemed really happy to see us at rides.(except the bumper cars lady) Everything was operating normally, even with extremely low attendance. Clown band was great too!
Thanks! With Waterworks opening on the 24th, life guards that took temporary positions as ride operators until the water park opened are now being trained and they're also cleaning the water park to prepare it for it's opening.
Went in for training today, was fun seeing all the old faces. The park was absolutely crowded, with massive lines for everything except for the Woodies. Couldn't get my Volcano fix.

There wasn't really any good place to put this, but today I noticed one of the most interesting advertising techniques yet. At my school, the cafeteria workers were handing out Kings Dominion coupons as students exited the lunch line. By the end of the day, pretty much every student had a Kings Dominion coupon in their hand. I have never seen such a unique or direct approach at advertising before. However, considering everyone was talking about Kings Dominion after the lunch block, it definitely was successful in getting the message of Kings Dominion's 40th celebration out.

Not sure what is being offered. The park did offer $1 hot dogs and $1 bottled water at 3 food locations on Memorial Day. Course, that deal was not advertised in advance. Seems that the park might be doing something on a larger scale this time around.

The cupcakes are $3.99 a piece. The surprise is supposed to be in the cupcake container/wrapper. I am pretty sure the surprise is NOT baked in the cupcake!
I thought I saw cupcakes in some food locations this spring. They appeared to be fairly large (like 2-3 times the size of a "regular" cupcake).

It's a shame all of this was so last minute, I would have totally planned a trip up to Kings Dominion on Sunday.

Kings Dominion better be watching there back. I hear Busch Gardens has a mean erosion plan for their 40th anniverserary.
