I wouldn't, I'd just be so saddened and angered at the same time I would probably never visit BGW ever again. Losing Nessie would be the final straw for me.

I'm in the same boat as Vaughan. The news sorta worries me. The last big additions have come at very high costs. I'm afraid this will be the same way. I highly doubt we'd be loosing another coaster, but who knows. If I had to make a guess, I'd place my money on Pompeii. It's downtime just keeps getting worse and worse, it has limited audience, it's seasonal, it's in a central area of the park, and it's blocking some good coaster terrain. Hopefully they have something up their sleeves though and we won't need to loose anything.
Anyway, something to keep in mind:

I'm not convinced a resort hotel would even do all that well at BGW, especially in the short term. Living in WBurg, I can tell you that it's been overbuilt already. Go down to New Town and you'll see empty shops on the main street and parking lots where housing and retail developments were supposed to go in years ago. As many tourists come into the area during the summer months, it's not enough to support what's already been built.
Add to that the fact that Great Wolf Lodge has already created a strong presence in the area and the fact that the park still does not have year round operating capability and I don't see how a resort hotel here would be a good investment. The only way it could succeed is if they were able to attract other investors to the area with new attractions that are viable in the winter.
The market here is not strong enough for another resort hotel. If they build it, they're about six years too late.

Look at what's going on at SeaWorld Texas. This year they're adding Aquatica to make the park a "multi-day attraction". What is one of the ways that you make money of multi-day attractions? Build a place for the to stay. Blackstone already sees the Williamsburg parks as a multi-day attraction so in a sense, we're just a step ahead of SeaWorld Texas. I'm getting the feeling that Blackstone sees the Busch parks like small Universal Studios parks that need more love than they were getting before.

I wouldn't be so sure on Escape from Pompeii being the one to go. While it has a view ravines around it. The trees that surround it are walls for the park as in they separate the sections of the park from one another. Losing that space would just be horrible. Now I could see something simply replacing the Pompeii area itself but nothing larger. If anything is coming in its on the outer ring of the park. Plain and simple.
I wan the first B&M giga to follow the train tracks all the way around the park! And there will be 4 launches! And it'll be floorless! And pull 6 Gs!

1. Uni is in Orlando (forget the Hollywood park, everyone else has), the most popular tourist destination in the world and able to run a regular schedule year round.
2. Uni's two parks (Uni and IOA) are literally directly beside each other with franchises supporting CityWalk that would not come for what is essentially a summer only tourist season. Connecting the two parks to make an actual resort here just isn't feasible.
Great Wolf cornered the resort hotel market in WBurg as it stands. BGW/WC and CW are not enough to support a resort hotel unless it's an attraction in itself (like Great Wolf is).
Perhaps they won't mind the months of low occupancy. Maybe they have a plan to make enough money to make up for the downtime. It'll be interesting to hear more about it.
I think the main drawback here for a hotel is that there just isn't enough to do. I think the Williamsburg Area needs more attractions. If there was another theme park in the area it would be good. But I think VA Beach is just a little bit too far away to be included as an area attraction. I guess you have colonial williamsburg, BGW, WCUSA and maybe Jamestown. But that's not going to get too many people excited to spend a week here. For example in Orlando/Myrtle beach/etc I can go to the park or any myriad of entertainment choices.

In other news, I don't think they'll touch Pompeii. It's an iconic piece of the park. yeah yeah, so was BBW but I would argue that Le Mans' importance to the park as both an attraction and landmark was quickly diminishing. I don't mind that it's gone. Thanks for the memories Le Mans!
