RE: 2012 Coaster

I get what you're saying about the name, and I do agree, but I think it comes down to... let's call it the public's level of intelligence. People can't spell Griffon or Loch Ness, much less Alpengeist. How many different ways have you seen SheiKra or Gwazi butchered? And wasn't Cheetah Hunt supposed to be something like Cheetaka? Think of it from a marketing standpoint. You want people to blog, Facebook, Tweet, whatever about your rides... you should probably make them something reasonably easy to spell and say. Not that I agree with that mentality, but it is what it is. Throw a "ß" or a real German word with a "goofy" pronunciation in there, forget it, no one will know what anyone is actually talking about and it will turn into "that coaster at BGW."

I also hate the fact that this ride's name is breaking the tradition of naming coasters after mythology and beasts.

This is my main gripe about the name/theme of the coaster. Every single last coaster that's currently in the park (and the last two that were removed) have all been named after a mythical creature of some kind.

Haha, clearly I'm messing with you Arrow. I thought my " :p " signified that.

Don't take things too personally, yeah?

PS. Opinions create facts.

EDIT: Hahaha holy crap BG Europe Fan, you need to get off my back. Let's not be babies here.

RE: 2012 Coaster

To be totally serious, a name doesn't mean much to a coaster. You can call a brand new ride "Absolute Shit" and advertise for it constantly. The GP will not care one bit about the name or themeing to it; They will still ride it. My example would be the Bizarros @ SFNE and SFGAdv. Same coasters just with a fresh coat of paint and some "improvements." GP went absolutely crazy for both of them.

SixFlags lives off of this principle. All they do is name/theme their rides after Superheroes or cartoons. Something I hate about SF. BGW on the other hand was usually more creative with their names, So I don't really think BGW doesn't find the names/themes of their coasters to be insignificant. If people didn't care about names, then all coasters would have no themes and would be like the first RCT game where unnamed coasters were referred to as: Roller coaster 1, 2, 3, etc.

Ok....
Swift, are there any pics in your archive of the outside part of the ride, especially around the final drop area?

.....:dodgy:

RE: 2012 Coaster

I have cleaned this thread up a bit of the back and forth. Let's not let it happen again. I left the original constructive name posts up however. It is mainly the last few that were in left field that are gone.

What's been posted is a good indication of what we were given. The important parts of the plans have been laid out in the first posts, the rest is minutia, none of which shows detail of the Rhine River section.

RE: 2012 Coaster

Wait! Everyone stop!

Verbolten makes sooo much sense. Here's why:

Verboten = Forbidden = Forbidden Forest
Bolt = Fast = Launch = Anyone remember that "Lightbox" at the end of the track right before the drop section? If you ask me, that means lightning...say....a bolt of lightening from a storm in the forbidden forest and the ultimate reason why the track drops? I think we're going to go into the blast forest during quite a thunderstorm...

Also, the track isn't going to pitch outwards....The ride envelope would have reflected this, and, if you look, all envelopes point to the center of the helix.

RE: 2012 Coaster

There is a whole new layer of fencing around the BBW station. Looks like they are really tearing it up now. The path is really, really narrow around the pretzel shop / MT area.

RE: 2012 Coaster

^ Hey, Carl Lum was right. (If you missed it, I said it was coming about two weeks ago.) ;)

This area will be fun to walk through once MT opens now.....

I think everyone here already knew this. The joke/pun/play-on-words (whatever you would like to call it) is one of my reasons why I disapprove the name.

RE: 2012 Coaster

I'm going to start lighting a candle everyday under my promo poster of Apollo's Chariot hoping Verbolten opens on time (to the very day) like AC did on 3/27/99...
I will simply cry if we have to wait until the end of May or later to ride this baby.

Their progress is swift indeed, to their credit. Themed dust wall, huge dirt pits, etc. Some ranking officials at Busch have high hopes for this ride, as they'll need it on time and in tip-top running condition to help regain the declining business numbers in the years since Griffon. 2007 was ages ago it seems.

We have some great screams ahead of us I think. It will do everyone here on this forum some good to think objectively and be thankful that we soon will be able to ride yet another excellent addition at an already brilliant theme park. Afterall, there are some places with little or nothing at all :(

RIP BBW, oh how I miss you inching into the station after the break run and stopping 3-4 times before the restraints released...:D

RE: 2012 Coaster

As long as they bold "Bolt" out of "Verbolten" to distinguish it as a play on words, I say it's fine. I am kinda saddened about the leap from the trend of naming coasters after mythical creatures :(

Can't wait to ride VerBOLTen!!!!! Soooooooo excited!
