RE: 13: Your Numbers Up (2011 to Present)

The last room pictured is definitely one where they use lighting to their advantage. 13 suffered greatly from lack of overhead (ceiling) detail. Sure, most guests won't bother to look up, but not having a ceiling is one of the first thing to lose the illusion of "realistic" space. It draws your eye directly to the wall panels which scream temporary and cheap. KD has the same issue in almost all of their mazes.

There are several parts of this house that I prefer over Scarlett's Revenge but the number one thing is that 13 made better use of the tunnel towards the end. The monster cards at the end in Scarlett's are just lackluster in both usage and placement.

This maze reminds me of the old saying "Tell me and I will forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I will understand."

13 really nailed it with some of peoples phobias and therefore it was all very real to them. For other people like myself, I feel like they didn't involve me enough. Even though the fear of heights isn't a big one for me personally, I really enjoyed that room because instead of watching someone else being afraid of heights, they put me right in the middle of the action.

Otherwise, snakes and spiders don't just shoot air at people. Circo Sinistro suffers from some of the same issues due to lack of actual involvement.

That said, I would love to see a layout of this maze whether it is an official one or not. I think it's amazing how they ever utilize this space for a haunted attraction. I could probably draw one myself, but the proportioning wouldn't be right with the other scenes, even though I know mostly which ones were back to back.

Does anyone think that they could draw a decent layout?

This is about 40 actors inside one maze... that’s CRAZY. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that many actors in one zone or maze.

I want to say 13 was the longest maze the park ever did according to a blog post from a few years back edging out Bitten. I think the estimated time by the park was "13" minutes, however runs varied due to the immense amount of stacking.

I personally feel that I identify as Flower Power.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I remember when I went through there weren't that many actors in it - also so horribly stacked that none of the actors could reset either.

I don't think you're in the minority. I thought Thirteen was an abominable house. It legitimately felt like it was designed to stack.

People were consistently frozen in fear. Also... They were bad at sending groups in since it would have a two hour line at closing time and they wanted everyone to get through quickly.

I remember one time while going through 13, one of the scare actors threw a fake bat at me and my family and screamed "oOOOooo it's a bat!"

Somehow it's also one of my fondest memories of Howl-O-Scream.
